Re: Bikes of the BB200/300 2024
1. What bike are you riding and why (gravel-bikers don'tbe shy?
2. Any favourite kit highlights?
3. How do you intend to manage the struggle bits?
4. Any training highlights you'd like to share and did you weigh the bike/kit?
5. What made you enter (or what made you come back)?
6. What badge are you aiming for?
Hoping a pic of the bike will precede the answers. No pressure (obviously). Pretty sure I could have asked better questions, but it is what it is!

Planning on cutting down a 5L dram of water to repurpose as a rear guard. Reg'll be really proud. Milk bottle from the previous (shitty Sonder or the excellent Pinnacle, can't recall on which I had it) recycle didn't really work too good. Always hated ot, too flexi!
1. The Santa Cruz Highball. Owned the Superlight years ago before I went all rigid for many many years. It's the only mtb I have now and I just think they're an ace bike/company. Hoping it doesn't break... Looks a piece of art Alhamdulillah (All Praise to God).
2. Yes, the Criterion down jacket and PHD bag. Also my SOL (survive outdoor longer) will come out to play and we all know you don't really wanna deploy that pile of bin bag!
3. Take spare socks and maybe some big bags from COOP.
4. Tried to train a bit less so as not to get injured. Did 2 marathon walks last month. Didn't weight the bike but did weigh the shoes. The SPD and Goretex hiker boots both weigh the same. So do the flat and XTR pedals. I've gone SPD. Oh, and lots of sleep in the next 48H.
5. Because I'm an idiot!
6. A black. Hopefully the SOL bin-bag bivy might help nudge that.

2. Spongy rear brake, after being bled umpteen times

1. Trek Procal - my newish hardtail to replace my Planet X Dirty Harry that lasted around 10 years and lots of big rides.
2. No real kit highlights - plan to travel light and hope not to use sleeping gear. New Alpkit gravitas waterproof hopefully won't get used.
3. Going to ride through them and eat stuff. I tend not to struggle until the end is almost in sight, but still 2-3 hours away.
4. No specific training done. Been on holiday to Spain if that counts. The bike is 10kg and the kit around 3kg plus food and water.
5. I always enter. I love roaming the hills. More of a social ride this year with Mike and Mark.
6. Black normally for the 200. I have 6 or 7 black badges and 3 or 4 orange ones, so a creature of habit. Maybe green or blue this year if we stop.

I figured out what I'm doing it for. A 28H badge for Sidra and Hind Rajab. Also taking lots of pics cos I know kids always love beautiful Wales. At Mach co-op now and the takeaway is halal. Double win, Alhamdulillah.redefined_cycles wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 9:45 pmredefined_cycles wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 9:29 pm 1. What bike are you riding and why (gravel-bikers don'tbe shy?
