I've got an 8speed bar end shifter ton and could probably find you a mech to go with it if I rummage in the shed?

I have a pair of Shimano 8spd STi shifters stashed in the bike parts maturation facility at home. Of interest to you?

hiya, I run 1x8spd on two of my bikes, inevitably one is the commuter but the other is my cx/touring/gravel/winter bike which I love. although you didn't ask for advice I am keen to give it because I am a fan of 8spd so hope you don't mind.

More or less any rear mech will work so don't feel tied down to 8spd specific. What will work best is the mech with the freshest joints and bearings and crispest spring. Both my 8spd bikes run 9spd mechs.

Also, if you are running 1x, generally a 10spd chain will hug the chainring teeth best, so that is what I go for. In both cases kmc, because of the easy to use replaceable links mostly.

good luck with the build!
