Just a quick question. I've got some Shimano.SM-RT64 centrelock rotors on my bike.
Does anyone know which tool.I'll.need to remove /install , as the standard cassete tool doesn't work?
I'm thinking possibly the Shimano bottom bracket tool is what I want, but I'm not 100% sure?!
Same as a cassette lock ring tool if you have one of those? Edit, somehow read past you saying the cassette tool doesn't work.
This then, older / trad external cup BB tool >

I have a casette tool that does not fit so had to buy another to do this ( has a centre pin on new one)
Newer rotors use the bb size outside/ external but are much bigger than the casette type ( internal ) and does look pretty much like a casetter bolt and sounds like what you have.
Is it the eternal or external splines on the locking?
I'm guessing internal, if you're using a cassette tool, and that your problem is that the axle end cap is blocking the tool.
Can you get the end cap off?
That’s not the tool needed though, I linked the Shimano document in the previous post for the specific rotor he has - the part number for the tool needed is shown in the doc (It’s a cassette lock ring tool).

I have Shimano rotors, they're not held on with the Shimano lock rings. Beside, they said that it's an external spline lockring. For the avoidance of any more doubt:
Last two centrelock rotors i bought did not come with a lockring so its not 100% definite what its locked with ( and either would work )
based on what the tech doc says.( more likely poasibly, vut certain , no.)
Specific rotor type/make doesn't matter, just the lockring used. If external as below then yes, just a bb tool. Type of lockring is just down to axle/end clamp clearance right?
