Bike Box Wanted - hire or buy?

Post by Johnallan »

I've never flown with a bike before but I've a trip planned to Lithuania in a couple of weeks and I'd like to use a hard case for piece of mind.

Does anyone have one available for sale (cheap) or to borrow for a week (happy to pay for the privilege)?

It would need to have a bit of extra space for a few bags etc.

Halifax/Huddersfield/Hebden Bridge sort of area.

The other alternative is obviously a cardboard box from a LBS but I'm paranoid about baggage handlers ruining the trip...

Cheers!

Used Polaris hard boxes regularly come up on ebay - One just went for £70. You can hire them for £5 a day at some places.

This is on ebay at the moment.

You can borrow mine for a bottle of red wine. It's tatty but functional, big enough for a fatty.

Based just north of Bolton but could head over to Hebden Bridge for an excuse.

When do you need it?

Thanks for the friendly offer Bill!

I've managed to borrow one locally so no longer required but I really do appreciate the kindness!

Cheers! :-bd
