WTD Flared Drop Bars: SORTED… for now 😉

Post by gordonbennett »

Hi all.

Before I re-tape and re-hose my On One Midge bars does anyonw have any surplus super-flared bars?

There’s some positive feedback about Genetic Digest or Ritchey VentureMax on previous posts. I’ve found Genetic Digest’s for £38 online so before I checkout does anyone have a pre-loved bargain they’re willing to part with?

I Have some Pro Discover 30 degree shallow drops FS, they're the 42cm versions as I thought the hoods area looked wide. Rode 200 or so miles on them and decided although the drops area was perfect, I needed a slightly wider hoods position so I bought some 44s last week.

£25 plus post? I think post could be a bit though.

FWIW I've used the Digest bars for a few years and really liked them though never liked the kooky looks or the difficulty in getting both top-ramp area and drops at a comfortable angle. The Pro isn't perfect either but it's a nicer shaped bar generally. The flare is plenty enough but not so extreme. They're like Venturemax's without the bend along the drops grip area.

I've got some genetic digest that I got as a warranty replacement and are unused. Happy to let them go for 25 plus post.

@jameso Thanks for the extra intel and offer, very kind. I must admit they do look good and it was a tough call but I’m going see out my curiousty of the Digest… though I might be back to eat my words and take you up on the offer if they’re still kicking around.

@Retiredtester Thanks! I’ve DM’d you.

Good call I'd say - I think every flare drop fan should ride Digest bars at some point. They're extreme but they're great. FWIW I ended up not having the top sections level where they go into into the hoods like most bars are set up now, but sloped down more like a classic road bar would have been. That way they felt :-bd

I'd agree James. I found them a bit too extreme for my roadie background and settled on cowchippers. Glad I scratched the itch first, though.

I loved my Digest bars before trying others. (ended up settling on venturemax.)
There's an overly long video of my Trek getting a battering with them fitted here
