Also not seeing the link between man in field and organiaed crime gangs.

The farmer massively ,and almost certainly illegally, over reacted( as if there ever can be teason for spraying a human with liquid faeces)

Farmers want taxpayers subsidy as custodians of the land for us all but its alos definetly theirs if you want to access it without damage. This annoys me who do i go spray with poo Reg ?

Ps really not anti farmer or that angry just showing its a total over reaction to a possibly valid point.( from me and them)

I searched earlier on whether the charity ride was a thing and got distracted by a farmer forum where it was discussed. They were pretty cutting of the farmer doing the sprayer and quite a few wanted him prosecuted. Vast majority came down on the side of the camper and a lot were advocating for allowing camping. I'm thinking we should organise a working group, make contact with their representatives and see how we can make this happen.

And having said I wasn't going to say owt else ..... in my defence I don't believe I condoned the action or drew an equivalence between field camping and equipment theft, I just pointed out why some farmers might have a short fuse.

I really don't see the harm if you leave no trace. Just be up before farmer maggot gets up with his poo spreading machine. I think I would of kicked the crap out of that half breed sheep shagger. Wild campers get enough sub standard as it is, get off my land and all that. I got screamed at by one the other day for going down a bridal way because it was upsetting his dogs. It was in my OS map I did pull out a full size OS map just to confirm it, but he just went red in the face. It's not like I was picking his mushrooms or anything.

I'd just report to the local authority and any rambling group that takes PRoW issues on,

It may help others who have had issues with the same guy often these people are an ongoing local problem

Once got shouted at by a horse rider on a bridleway ( i had slowed was at walking pace etc )arguing only horses were allowed on bridleways. I asked if they had only just got the horse ...the look suggested yes.

It is funny to think if all bridal way users go together walkers ( long socks stick wavers ) horse riders and cyclists ever the dreaded green laners and lobbied together we might get something done regarding our dreadful rights of way. But I think it can message down to some groups wanting sole access with out other groups.

As long as the land owners can keep us off they will be happy.

Thinking back it's a shame the Norman's to over the place, just think we might still be only working 3 days a week and still have the utopia of common land to use.

Plenty of people/ groups pull up the ladder after they get what they want/ dont care about others unfair access...yes walkers i mean you.

Right to roam is required but the wealthy own the land and the government . Still thinknwe argue its the price they pay for subsidies - if you tale public funds you give public acess...give them a wallett dilemma.

Wasn't there a downside to common land centuries ago, in that you couldn't really up sticks very easily and actually do much roaming - in part because you would likely have been too engaged in your subsistence living on the commons themselves (often poorer quality farmland than elsewhere)..? But also because commons served local communities rather than the nation? And local commons rights would have been defended by that community. I think the term has shifted meaning over time, and is now almost exclusively about right of access, and only means access to shared resources to the few who have or can exercise those rights on common land. Which is all good, just that it's hard to compare commons of the past to what is desired today, because of that shift in meaning. Just a tangent thought from me again, at some distance from somebody having sh!t sprayed on their tent, but kinda linked!

EDIT - if only Labour hadn't u-turned on their pledge to reform access, damnit!

O to have thought about moving to Scotland before kids arrived. I am sure I could have gotten a job in a bike shop up there in the promised land. I did move back from BC because I was not getting on with my GF out there . Then years later you work out that you get nagged at no matter who you end up marrying .
As soon as the kids move out I am off on a big bike ride for a few years I think bike bum here I come.

Here's hoping that and a few other points similarly dropped were to avoid the media storm that would go with it from the money/media classes. May be different when in (if) power with a large majority. Maybe I'm naive ..

The problem I believe is that it has the potential to impact the royals estates so gets kyboshed at or before any consultation. The conservative volte-face on it a few years ago and Labour disappearing it from their policies shortly after as the latest example. Most likely by the unnamed royal staff whose sole job is to stiff the rest of us who will get a suitable order of the stuffed pigeon or something on retirement

There's different things being conflated
Commons themselves vary usually with regional stereotypes some in villages etc some covering large areas of upland etc

There are property "commoners rights" which usually enable grazing of stock, essentially a second class landed gentry, tend to be very " farmer Palmer"

Then there access rights associated with commons which vary a lot, some with bylaws some cover areas deemed as "urban commons", there can be overlaps for example a moor with commoners rights (about 6 people are the commoners), urban common, and areas of a military range with bylaws

Then there's access land which may include commons and urban commons within it's boundaries

Perhaps, as the money part of the money/media lot. How is it dealt with in Scotland, Balmoral etc? (rhetorical Q really, not intending to get into the Right 2 Roam topic in detail)

It's hard, I just wish we all had more spaces to escape the urban drudge. I think we will never replicate what Scotland has. I don't think any English government would dare, unless we have a massive mass protest country wide.

It would have to be tens of millions in London and stopping the whole system of weeks. Then they might just carpet bomb us with slurry . I am not political as they are all arse holes and only ever out for themselves and want to keep us all in little boxes.
As long as the share holders of the land are happy to dish out party donations we are all screwed what it comes to land rights. I don't even think the green party could help us out.
We should take a leaf out of France's book, I they don't like something they get all heavy handed. There government must know the french people are always looking to start another revolution .
I think we all moan about it but never get bombastic enough.
O well off to ride my bike. I am biving this weekend in north Wales, and I will be sure to pick my camp spot with slurry boy in mind and stay away from farm land.
