I rode the seafront on the outward leg of this but avoided it on the way back, might be of help picking a way around.
Sean I just looked at your comment about 'Strava robbed of elevation gain'. If you click the 3 lines in the top right on the app in your activity. You can then get Strava to use it's own data from so many other riders input over the years.
This can be swapped to device/strava map elevation as you wish. But I don't think it works for older rides.

Forecast is improving
I'm tempted to embrace my inner Reg and ride in (fairly closed in ) sandals ... I'd be taking them with me anyway and it'd save carrying a pair of cycling shoe/ boots .. I ride with flats now so Sandals with optional waterproof socks should be fine.
I'm all of a quandary as to whether I actually need to take the stove/gas/lighter/pot etc ... it's Dorset & summer. There is no shortage of cafes / pubs / M&S / Morrisons or whatever to grab food. I like the idea of stopping for a brew on Swyre Head or wherever though in reality the likelihood of me stopping for a brew on Swyre Head is frankly minimal. Especially if it's 22C. So do I need a stove? Or just take it anyway even if I don't use it.

Leave the stove at home, use the space to carry a bottle of beer bought at Corfe Castle up to Swyre Head. Bonus points if it's 9am when you start drinking.

I like your thinking !!! I expect to be at Swyre head around 11 am so a breakfast beer might be in order !
I'm leaning towards TLS .... and leaving the stove etc out.... just keep the spork & Opinel in
I'd agree that you don't really need a stove, so many options for food and drink.
I'd not be wanting to wear sandals though, just for all the grit/dust/sh!te kicked up into your toes, and for the stinging nettles and vegetation taking it's swipes on the overgrown bits. But that's just my enclosed shoe prejudice! It's understandable the desire to Be More Reg!
Fabulous! Yes lots of points for those. Look very similar to my non-Puppies though, maybe made by same sweatshop . My normal shoes are made by a bloke in a workshop in Sheffield so I might see if he does sandals.

Well, it's upon me.
I start tomorrow lunchtime ish from Salisbury.
Flippin weather cant decide WTF it's doing... gonna bet HOT ! .. no wait ... Gonna be RAINING !.... no hang on ... 19 C with 13c overnight....
Hard to know how to pack.
I still think it's going to be sandals over 5Tens...
No stove
Cloudcover & liner not sleeping bag.
I'm not likely to die.
Hopefully. Never know at my age.
Twas excellent. 181miles with 13000'
There's a lot of sandy flinty tracks that'd IMHO be difficult/entertaining on a fairly narrow tyred gravel bike.
The Jones was excellent throughout.
Sounds good, you planning to write this up a bit, would be interested to hear more detailed thoughts, pictures, how the route/bivvy spots worked out for you...

Thought about it, but also thought it'd not be that interesting ...... I probably should
