All packed up for a quick overnighter on Saturday. Not stayed out for nearly a year, weather is looking nice, if a touch chilly. Looking forward to it :-bd

That is my version of TLS! My shelter and sleeping bag are just what I have and neither small nor that light. Plus a few layers (again not small or light) as it's meant to be 6 degrees in the morning. Have luxuries like a sit mat and stove so I can enjoy morning coffee. It's a break from the 6th birthday parties on both days this weekend :???:

"Grandad spends 14 years camped in garden".

Well that's put us in our place.

"currently going through a divorce". Ah. Possibly not a complete surprise perhaps.

"Dr Lindsay Browning, who holds a doctorate in insomnia from the University of Oxford, said sleeping outdoors was not "scientifically recommended", citing temperature, lighting and "intrusive animal noises".

She added: "Most people would find the unhelpful aspects outweigh the helpful aspects".

Oh well. That's that then. I wish I'd known when I started this lark. "Most people" eh.... heh heh...

Personally I'd rather sleep to the sound of cheaping birdies than traffic or other urban noises. I suspect they've never kipped in a remote woodland!

Yes it is, despite being the last of y 2 week holiday. As usual I've not done what I'd hoped to do but still had a relaxing time with some good bike rides, visiting parents and other friends.

Anyway, early night for me as I'm going to finish my hols with a monster ride up to Loch Rannoch and back tomorrow, it being midsummer.

Cheery Friday here, because there's at long last a bit of movement on the new house front...I use the word "house" loosely (tiny house before it became a trendy modern movement) - and no, I'm not talking subsidence either

Young Miss Z has got through two full weeks now of riding a motorbike, without breaking either herself or the bike :-bd

I've got a week off work to look forward to, not the happiest of circumstances with my dad passing, but I'm sure my mum and I will do plenty of laughing as well as crying ...

Quiet on the cycling front, but hey ho all ok

Cheery here as our house is now home to 3 seagull babies who will soon be stealing tourist chips

Cheery here too. Knee on the mend. Both eldest kids have finished their A-levels and now have a summer of fun and trips ahead starting with Amsterdam on Monday. I'm pretty jealous. I think they're sensible to cope with a trip over there. :???:

Youngest awaiting the hatching of chicks she has in an incubator. Any day now. We did a batch a month a go, split between a broody chicken and the incubator and I did my best to kill those off. Not in purpose, of course. 1 survived.

Weekend of tweaking the bike, listening to new LPs picked up yesterday and sorting the garden.

Cheeriest weekend for a while.

Belated, but managed to get four over exited 16/17 years olds to and from Wembley yesterday. Totally reinforced why I hate driving in London.

Thankfully not. I wandered to IKEA and bought jam.

Resistance is futile. Just embrace it: Between Love Like Blood or Bad Blood, I'd probably choose the former, but nowt particularly wrong with the latter.

My Daughter has booked two in a row at an extortionate price. Doesn't care, she'll have blast. For me, Taylor Swift, like M'Bop by Hanson = guilty pleasure .

Note to Reg...whenever Amyl & The Sniffers has come on the radio recently, I think of you. What's that about? I don't even know you. It's a great song.

I’ve woken up to Shake It Off blaring out of my 12 year olds room every school morning for years. I couldn’t name another song but that one I could probably recite.

Not Friday, but I've just noticed that last night was the 8th anniversary of my first bikepacking bivvy trip. Since then, I've done 96 nights out, all told.
