I’ve stupidly done a long bikepacking trip with my right hand in a poor position. If you think “reving a motorbike” that is how I was holding the bars for long days.
I’ve now have an issue with my grip. I find doing up zips very difficult, rotational movements are hard as well. I had to ask Helen to stir the cous cous salad this evening. Things like turning keys in locks are also difficult.
I’d hoped it would go away but it doesn’t seem to be getting better. Any ideas? I’m very much an NHS dodger so would like to try a bit of self help before I visit the GP and ask them to restore my sex life.

Re: MTB Wrist issue
Been there, done that. In Spain too - on the Camino. On the third day out I found I couldn’t hold a knife to cut my food up. This was last September/October. It didn’t seem to be getting better a month after my return. so I went to our doctors to get it seen to. Doctor said “I don’t know, I’ll refer you to the musculoskeletal unit.”
By the time I got an appointment, my hand was back to normal, but it took about thee months. Doctor Internet had said to use a wrist brace but only at night and that’s what I did. Worked for me.

Re: MTB Wrist issue
Sounds like an RSI type injury Dave. I get it from time to time in my right arm - usually caused by mixing cement. I find general rest but while still keeping it moving works and it's always sorted itself out with time*

May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: MTB Wrist issue
Well, your post made me chuckle Dave, so it's not all bad
Possibly worth visiting a good Physio if you know of any locally? I've always found them more useful than GPs for that sort of injury.

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Just use the other hand…?
At my doctors, you can call up for free physio and swerve speaking to a doctor, probably quicker to get an appointment too

Physio to work out the damage and the exercises you need to do to return the area to strength
Masseuse to unlock the rest of you for healthy blood flow to the afflicted area
Rest - I agree with Froggy on a splint to keep things in place when sleeping
