Re: What are you listening to now?
Bit of a fan of Western themes meself - think Morricone's "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" and so on.
This surfed-up punked-up example fairly gallops and soars along:
(Warning For Young Persons: don't be alarmed, but it's got a tune)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjLhWg9PaJA
Western themes... hmm.... oh, go on then... Blazing Saddles too
. Poor old Frankie Laine didn't know what he was letting himself in for....

I challenge you not to go on and watch the whole film -

Re: What are you listening to now?
Listened to the new Kings of Leon album twice, it’s not going to be classic is probably the most pleasant thing I can say!
First ten seconds started promising but went quickly down hill, maybe two half decent songs but that’s it

Re: What are you listening to now?
I listened to that last week ... used to be a massive fan, Youth & Young Manhood was stunning, Aha Shake Heartbreak also excellent... saw them in O2 Academy in Brum and a sports hall in Gloucester .... they're an excellent pub band ! They're not an arena band ... as proved in the Ricoh arena Coventry!..voodoo_simon wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 7:45 pm Listened to the new Kings of Leon album twice, it’s not going to be classic is probably the most pleasant thing I can say!

Didn't think much of the latest stuff!

Up to about 15 mins ago, a local punk band called Chinese Burn playing in town. They were good!
Re: What are you listening to now?
Very loudly (but only in earphones, sadly) Mogwai's 'Christmas Steps' from the Come on Die Young album. An immense song from an immense album.

Re: What are you listening to now?
Only recently found out about the 2014 Beeb production of Under Milk Wood, bringing together loads of Welsh talent, "phoning in" from lots of different locations... Michael Sheen, Tom Jones, Charlie Church, Sian Phillips, and more. Nearly bought a DVD but just found it on the Tube.... best listened to with the fire on, lights off, with a few pints, let it wash over you..... clever idea.. top quality....

Filmed in Fishguard old town ... it's a superb film. Jacs wants to have a weekend there to explore. I loved the film.RIP wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 9:06 pm Only recently found out about the 2014 Beeb production of Under Milk Wood, bringing together loads of Welsh talent, "phoning in" from lots of different locations... Re: What are you listening to now?
Indeed the 1972 film is superb - the photo of Mae Rose Cottage is from that of course not the 2014 reincarnationgtr wrote: superb film

If you're going to Fishguard don't forget to pop in at the Dyffryn Arms at Pontfaen for an unusual pint or two

Re: What are you listening to now?
Curiosity got the better of me and I clicked on this - Couldn't be further from my usual listening but it tickled me. Probably brings back memories of music heard in the background when I was a nipper.

I was just about to say "Far out, man" when I saw exactly that at the top of the comments

I've spent the evening listening to Nick Helm. He's a funny potty mouth.
