So I'm looking for some sort of night out type trip in March.
Stu had some ideas about something in north Wales maybe?
Long Mynd could be on the cards?
Anyone thinking about anything and want some company?
Wouldn't mind get a few miles in if anyone is doing HTR prep?
What say you?

Re: Something in March
Hi
I am also thinking of some thing for the last weekend of march 28th-30th a overnight some where where I can attempt a small camp fire although this is not a priority.
Long Mynd was on my mind but i wouldn't know where to start, any route or bivi spot recommendation would be great, or if you want company a grid ref, land mark for a meet up for the over night bivi spot, we could plan our own route and meet you there???
Let me know
Regards
Matt

Re: Something in March
Well I was just starting to loosely plan something this morning actually as it looked like I was on solo mission. I was certainly aiming for something earlier in the month than that Matt as I have a decent trip in the calender all ready for April 5th.
I have an idea about getting the train to Shrewsbury after work on a Friday. Pitching up possibly at Stiperstones and then riding back to South Birmingham on the Saturday. Much of the ride back would be road though as a lot of the off road that I know back will be under water at the moment. I'm not sure that Stiperstones would be a good spot for a fire though as it's fairly open up there and being a nature reserve it might be pushing it a bit.

I have heard it might be flooded that way, this is the problem I am having with route and trip planning at moment!
Never mind, have a good one any way. Thanks

Re: Something in March
I haven't heard the stiper stones is specifically flooded, just the low area in general if you are coming from dorrington to church Stretton or viser versa.
Any way I just plotted a quick route from church Stretton I will just have to take it as its comes and hope it not to wet and sodden higher up.
Let me know how you get on with your trip and if there is any where I need to avoid.
Cheers

Might be worth looking at Eastridge for your Bivvy spot, not quite as exposed and plenty of trees and I would of thought you could light up a little fire no problem. The Mynd and Stiperstones holds up well to the weather and you should not encounter to much water.I have an idea about getting the train to Shrewsbury after work on a Friday.
