Possibly clearing stock and managing cash flow to fund egravel bike stock? It's the mtb's that are on SPJust saw this as well. Wonder if Alpkit are struggling? They did seem to go all in with Sonder, I wonder if they've been caught out by the great bicycle bubble burst?

Wasn't there an announcement the other day about a new version of the Evol...? So maybe they're just clearing the decks for refreshing the range...riderdown wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 12:42 pmPossibly clearing stock and managing cash flow to fund egravel bike stock? There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.
Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Hopefully just that. There are quite a lot of bikes and frames listed on SP though, it's not just a couple of bikesBoab wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 2:41 pm.riderdown wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 12:42 pmPossibly clearing stock and managing cash flow to fund egravel bike stock? Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I do hope it’s nothing bad for alpkit/sonder. Owning a hardtail if there’s myself I definitely wouldn’t buy another bike from them but don’t want to see anyone struggling.
Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I've had a couple of frames off them (Camino and a Camino ti) which have been really good. I'm not convinced that they're the paragons of virtue that they sometimes imply but they're not the worst either.
Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Got two of theirs and like them both and think the ethics are genuine and better those that try than Amazon or Planet X who don't even try / care.
I suspect this is just to reach a bigger audience and clear some atixknrather than anything to worry about ( hope so as not many ethical brands about)

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
That Salsa sale is an eye-opener - a carbon fork at over £500, reduced from £800+ ?
At what point was £800+ an OK RRP for a carbon fork? As nice as the product is the route to market (margin stack) doesn't seem workable esp not in the current climate.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Opposite end of spectrum to Jameso's post but these carbon forks look to be a good price https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/r ... -bike-fork
Triple pack mounts, internal dynamo routing, decent clearance (700x45)

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Got a pair of those trig forks for the triple mounts, as my V3 Camino doesn't have them. Also used EXTRA10 code for an extra ten quid off, so a decent bargain...

Regrets not speccing a tapered headtube. Ah well.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I've a straight steerer carbon fork going spare if you are interested Gecko
Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Thanks for the offer Phil. I've got a straight steerer carbon fork the now; it was the mounts I was coveting. My bodged solution seems to be working OK.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
No probs, they do have triple bottle mounts and mudguard mounts, but tyre clearance is limited to 40mm - https://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/genesis- ... -vargn1261
Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Ooh, tempting in that case. QR too. Let me think about it and I might make you an offer, unless someone else can use them.

This one is probably only for forum members that live on the continent as it is from Rose Bikes.
I have been looking for some SLX Shimano 2x11 cranks and finally found these for 31 euros. Good price and it'll keep the old hardtail going.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Looks like the ideal tool for the Spanish Divide trip, I've got an Instinct Solar watch and on the last 2 trips the graph showing the solar dose was at maximum for the entire trip and instead of showing the number of days of battery left, it read infinity. I thought it was going to explode!
I've got a 1030 which I picked up from Wiggle for £300 which sits on a Garmin charge battery which is powered by a hub dynamo dynamo, this has never come close to running out and the connection is solid using the 5 pins on the back of the unit rather than their crappy USB plugs, no need for cocktail sticks this year
