Short notice Bothy trip..

Post by Wotsits »

To try & keep up with the bivi/bothy a month challenge, there's only 4 more nights left- does friday night count as the following day is the 1st??

Anyway, thinking of Mosedale Cottage in the north east Lakes at the moment, but could possibly be swayed to somewhere in Wales. Weathers looking better Thurs/Fri for the Lakes though & got a route in mind.

Wouldn't mind some company if anyone else is interested..

Wouldnt recommend Mosedale at the moment unless you're taking waders and a snorkel  Its very boggy up there and its not really been that dry recently.....

There is a plan to be out in the Peak on friday, so let me know if you may be interested?

Hopefully I'll be off out on Fri night ... plan is to set off after a days coaching, ride for a few hours into the dark and pitch up. Carry on riding Sat and have Sat night out. Return Sun or maybe even Mon if I get carried away

Thanks Chew, do you know roughly where about in the Peak you'll be going?
I'm riding Jacobs Ladder starting from Castleton at 9.30 Sat morning, so could work out..

Is the approach from Sleddale very boggy? Had discounted rinding from the Kentmere side because of what i'd read about the bog to the west of the cottage..

No set plan but probably in the Derwent valley which is isn't far from Edale.

For Mosedale I believe both sides are the same. I've only been up there in the dry. There's no destinct path to get there so its a bit of a trek and it would be the same conditions from each side.
