I'll weigh in in the morning before I head south to see my mam for a long weekend.
Joined a new strength gym, so been learning some oly lifting which has been fun.

I'll not lie, I expected more, but I'm fairly sore and inflamed from a couple of heavy weights sessions this week. I generally suffer from a fair bit of inflammation in my legs particularly.
I'm happy with my eating, and feeling better for it, so that's a definite plus.
Away at my mam's until Tuesday now, so it will be struggle to keep on top of things with seeing family.

SWMBO fancied a beer last night.... and tbh I was not averse.
So I had a lovely Westmalle Dubble (330ml & then a Purple Moose Stout , also 330ml so a little over a pint. Then a dram or two of Paddy's was just about right tbh.
16 days without alcohol was easy.
Back on abstinence til next week probably.

A bit annoying, I'm only getting random notifications of replies. So cheers, well done, and fingers crossed to Loki.
I'll not be surprised if I'm practically starting from scratch again when I get back. Bit of a stressful time here with my mam who's got dementia, plus other family stuff, and there no doubt I'll be getting a hot shot parmo tonight at my daughter's and with any luck a roast dinner tomorrow
But yeh damage limitation is the key and I've been having to do a fair bit of walking , so my knee has been telling me

Some days damage limitation is the best we can do mate.

Either my scales are stuck, or I'm not doing enough. (I know the answer to this)
Marginally frustrating as I've been sure to exercise (ride) every day for at least an hour for the last 23 days and to see no progress tells me my eating must be significantly worse than I thought.

1st weigh-in yesterday proves why I need to pick it up again. Starting now at 77.8kg and the target set a couple of years ago is 72kg still stands. Less snacking, more sensible approach to meal times, stricter approach during the week with treats allowed on a Saturday. I've never stopped running but will try to pickup some strength training on alternative days. More cycling overall. I did get very, very near to my target over a year but then it lapsed due to injury, as far as I can remember. Could never restart properly after that. I'm being fairly sensible to how I start all this and I don't expect a clear run at this at all but baby steps and all that.

Ok. I'm in.
No idea how frequently I'll post as I've not been particularly vigilant about weighing myself of late.
Here's how January has gone:
01-01-24 - +/-122kg (didn't weigh but was there just after Christmas)
17-01-24 - 118.8kg
25-01-24 - 118.6kg
26-01-24 - 118.3kg
The reason for the big drop was mostly a lethal 24h gastro thing that I had.
The reason for the ongoing decline is (hopefully and I'm assuming) my recent take on sensible living.
I'm trying to reduce and reverse the trend of chasing Dopamine hits, the resulting tolerance and subsequent dependency.
This means everything from no booze, no sugary drinks, minimalist social media, attempting zero junk food, no automatic TV/screen time increased exercise and a whole host of other life-tweaks that will hopefully add up to just feeling better everyday and in every way.
Then again, it's easy to be motivated and perky in January - let's see how it goes.....

Apologies for the late start here, not had the easiest of starts to the year, just started with a personal trainer who specializes in helping people with TBI's and similar recover, think I might actually do well this time.

I'm currently doing a 1-1 block with the coach at the new strength gym I've joined. Hoping it well help me manage a sensible level and progression of training as opposed to my usual flog myself so much that I can hardly walk out the door or function for a couple of days. Also working with some of the other physical limitations I have. Going well so far though I'm struggling with the total change in mindset. Can't see me affording more after this block of 6 for a while though.

Yep, happy with that and happy with how the week has gone. No naughty snacking during the week and only sensible lunches. Even had a couple of beers last night with a couple of snacks. Now that's civilised.

I think I cracked it. Somehow the belly looks smaller today than the rest of the last 2 years
. Did a massive (for me) road ride with a bivy yesterday. 7000ft of climbing and 2 hours sleep with lots of cold!! Heart rate belt worn throughout and departed at 2000 with a return at 0800!!
Maybe that's the key. Cold weather rides from night til morn. HR seems to think I burnt 8000 calories of which I doubt I put that much in. Winner winner, 'discounted tuna crunch sarnies from CoOp' dinner. Will get a weight up soon but that seems to be stagnant at 86kg!

Depends on your weight, and intensity and feeding, but quite a long way. For me at 125kg a lot shorter distance than a 70kg racing snake, especially if it's hilly.
Theres something around 7700cals in 1kg of fat in theory, but even in 'fat burning' zones 1&2 you burn carbs as well, and at higher intensities you'll burn higher amounts of carbs in proportion to fats depending on you.
So if your Garmin or Strava say it's a 7700cal ride then a proportion of it burnt will be carbs, not fat, so to actually burn your 7700cals of fat you'd have to ride some amount greater depending on x/y/z. But that also assumes you're doing a fasted ride of that length (not very likely), so depending on what you eat, and how much you eat, you'd have to ride longer again to burn your 1kg of fat....
TLDR: Know idea, but it's a pretty long ride and depends on many different factors.

The secret to losing fat Bob is to get into the fat burn zone. So, that's around 3 hours of riding without taking in any carbs at all. So, no sugars or bars. Fatty stuff without carbs is fine. Obviously you'd have to keep in a low intensity until you've bypassed that secret 3 hour mark.
I've been trying it many moons and it seems to work well. In fact I'd say you could comfortably do a 100 miler, keeping at a low(ish) heart rate zone and walking any 15+ % climbs that come in the way. Water though, you cannot miss out on that as it helps utilise the fats into energy.
Just my two pence, I don't know (too) much about fasted riding. Honest

Not weighing this week as I had a disastrous ( tbh it was excellent
) birthday week as I drove from Ludlow to Glasgow to collect a bike, then to Coventry for a family b'day meal, then home, then had 3 nights in the Old Cheshire Cheese in Castleton so ended up eating out & cooked breakfasts for 5 nights ... and modest beer & Bakewell pudding/tart (both needed to be tried for comparison purposes)... and we bought some frankly marvellous beers from the Buxton brewery ....
All that cannot lead to a happy weigh in .... but I had a really great week.
