Niche interest, but the current Shimano Nexus 3-speed disc brake compatible hubs are £21.99 on Wiggle / CRC: https://www.wiggle.com/p/nexus-3d55-3-speed-gear-hub
Needs a bell-crank and shifter to go with it, available for £15.99 from Bankrupt Bike Parts and, depending on the frame and gearing choice, a chain tensioner.
Might be of interest to anyone who fancies an apocalypse-proof winter hack / commuter / milk-getter.

If anyone is after a hardtail, there's some crazy prices on Vitus ones at CRC/wiggle. https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/v ... ntain-bike looks the best deal to me at £300, but there's plenty others too

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I've got the 1.0 and 1.6. With a decent mat and bivvy bag I find them both to be way warmer than they have any right to be for the weight. They're very small though, in both length and width, which I find a bit uncomfortable. Not my first choice if sleep quality is a priority but great for their intended purpose.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 8:07 pmI've always considered them as a means of staying alive rather than staying warm. Are those bags actually any good?![]()

Exposure Strada superbright (10,000 mah battery) on CRC for £200. The non-aktiv version (which auto dims in the face of coming headlights). Be quick as I don't think there's many left.
Hoping it'll come with the full kit (usb charge cable as well as mains plug and the bar switch.

Cheapest by a significant margin I've ever seen my favourite DT Swiss XM481 30mm internal rims, from a reputable shop's outlet on ebay, in stock for 29 and 27.5 in both 28 and 32 holes.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
My Mountain Raid 1.0 just arrived. I know what you mean about being quite small, but I'm only 5'9" so it's not a big deal for me. I've gotta say, I'm utterly blown away by the pack size and assumed warmth of this bag. It's not "thick" by any stretch of the imagination, but not wafer thin as I'd suspected. I think this might fit the bill for a summer racing bag quite nicely. And for the price I paid in the sale...Johnallan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 7:52 pmI've got the 1.0 and 1.6. Postie just delivered a £7.50 helmet from CRC. Bought for work, but it's surprisingly well made and comfy.
