Which freeze dry meals would you recommend?

I've tried the Adventure foods Carbonara and the muesli breakfast found them pretty tasty, tried Wayfarer when I started out but not my cuppa tea tbh

Breakfast I just use porridge oats and sugar plus dried milk...fruit be damned

I have used the decathlon branded dried meals and they have been fine, seem similar calorie wise as more expensive ones mates have had...they are all ok to eat at best so cheapness wins for me

I have used expedition foods in the past, not too bad, I recall that Torq ventured into the meals market while at a race a few years back, they recently updated their range too I think.

Just ordered a bundle to try out.
Again not massively calorific, but can always add something else (pitta, mini naan, rice, couscous etc) to bulk it up.

If you want veggie, Tent meals are good - quite a limited choice but compact and in small plastic bags rather than great big foil / plastic packets. You need to carry a bowl of some description to re-hydrate/eat but that makes it a bit more civilised. Add ham, chorizo or smoked sausage for more protein. Breakfasts are really nice and all cheapish too.

I've tried a few of their meals and really like them. They taste good and "normal"...no chemical aftertaste, simple good meals and are made here in the UK in very compact forms.
I had the 800kcal meals but they also do smaller portions as well as breakfasts and snacks.

They also tell you how long they take if cold soaking them (which i have done and worked well).
I bought a reusable pouch where I rehydrate them. Once I'm done it folds to nothing.

Update on the 5 Minutes to Delhi freeze dried curries.
Received them today and tried one out for dinner with some rice.
Very good, probably added a bit too much water so a bit runny but rice soaked it up.

No one else with Idahoan Cheesey Mash potato? Available at Tesco & Ama2on
Any mash seems ok, but the Idahoan portion is bigger iirc
I tend to add pepper & more cheese at home, then chop Quorn Cocktail sausages ( way better flavour than meat derived cocktail sausages) into it when cooked.
Proper comfort food and a good meal.

Yeah, often have Idahoan mash, the best of the instant mash brands for sure.

Come to think of it, it would be quite a good accompaniment to the freeze dried curries.

Some indian shops do potsto flakes so you can mik your own with dried cheese , onions salt pepper etc.
Its comsiderably cheaper than small shop bought options at a few quid a kg ( not bought for years as it lasts a while).

I went canoeing in Algonquin this year and we used Backpacker’s Pantry and it was really good. It’s available on Amazon but you have to buy 6 meals…
