Stiff fingers while riding??
I have recently started riding flat bars (On-one Marys with ergon gc1 grips) and I have noticed that fairly quickly my fingers are getting very stiff and uncomfortable
Is this down to not being used to flats or am i doing something wrong??

Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
I find Ergon grips don't offer much padding/ comfort on rough trails, but they do support the palm nicely. Padded gloves help.
Perhaps take a look at the angle you have them set at too. Tyre pressure can vastly alter the comfort on the bike too. What tyres are you running and at what pressure?

Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
Angles could be an issue, will try some different positions, I'm not sure its to do with shock absorption as I get the same feeling riding on the roads :/
My tires are conti x-kings 2.4 run at about 60psi because I have a habit of ruining rims :/
Cheers for the swift reply btw :)

Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
sure I just typed this once....
Does it happen just riding or descending?
Whats the brake lever to bar distance feel like? I found the further form my bars my levers are the quicker my fingers ache on long downhill sections

Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
yikes... 60psi....
how heavy are you (if i may ask)?

60psi
Flip me... I don't have my CX tyres that high!
I bet at the pressure the bike reads every bump in the trail with the diligence of a Braille student.
For reference, I run my 2.4 Ardents tubeless at about 28psi.
As far a breaking runs is concerned, try pulling up on the bars just before you reach the obstacle

60 PSI!!!! On the road maybe but off it?!
You've got the same wheels as me iirc, Maddux DC3? I'm running 2.1 Beavers with 25-30 psi (tubeless) and nothing's fallen off yet! A bit more cush can't hurt with the finger issue.

Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
Its just generally riding, but im not sure about the levers as it seems to be the 2 fingers wrapped around the bar that start to ache :(
As far as my weight I am almost exactly 10 stone but I seem to ride really heavy on everything :/ will try letting some air out but I'm still anxious about less than 40psi

Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
im 13.5* stone just now and run about 22 to 25 psi in 2.2 to 2.4 tyres. Rims are Arch EX. no dents... and its rocky here
*yeah yeah, im on a diet

Mines gone too
Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
There we go, tires down to 40psi ( I will hold you all personally responsible when I flat my rim
) and I've tilted my ergons forward.
If all else fails I will have some Midge bars for bikepacking and flatter flats for general messing around, but that's a different discussion :D

Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
What could you be doing to flat a rim, with 2.4 tyres weighing 10 stone? A Josh Bender tribute?
I haven't managed to bend a flimsy crest with 25psi when loaded to the gunwales!

Thats what I think too.
What rim did you bend?
Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
Oh, FFS, that's another post vanished. What is going in here tonight?
Re: Stiff fingers while riding??
27psi, 2.25 tyres on crests fully loaded, no problems. Go for it Ben.
