Not very bikepacking'y I'm afraid, got a set of Mudhuggers for my Trance, while neat enough they weigh about 300g and make an already fairly ugly bike no prettier... Still hopefully they will mean I will go out and play a bit more in the mud

Those Mudhugger guards are the dogs bollox, especially the rear. My son has one on his bike and basically won't ride without it if he's not racing. I'm waiting for the 29er version of the rear to come into stock.

In the meantime, the postie brought one of these to my place today (or rather I wrestled it into the back of my car and brought it home myself after winning a frantic but satisfying bidding war on ebay. Its got a bit of rust here and there but it works perfectly and has years of life in it. Training starts tomorrow.

Ooh John Climber....

Where did you get the BB7 boots from? I was struggling to find anywhere with stock and Fishers haven't replied to my query.... :|

Onto my own Postie matters.....

The Fargo is getting a spruce up with:

(From Planet X)
Fresh cables all round
37c tyres (instead of 2x heavier twin-rails)
Selcof chain
Cinelli gel pads

(From Ribble)
5mm thick Selle Italia SmooTape XL bar tape (thanks Stu!)

(From Merlin)
Some 45mm mudguards (as 63mm will look daft on 37c tyres and the design looks like it'll be a better fit)

Bit of a downside to the PX delivery courtesy of Yodel. A litre bottle of degreaser had leaked its entire contents. Luckily most seems to have escaped the box leaving the contents untouched....

Although they are saying OOS again they are only 2 days away, so Fisher must have stocks of them. I've had to wait for 5 weeks

Got 3 kettles yesterday. Bit cheap and flimsy but the insulation should hold them together

They were saying in stock when I first followed your link in the PM you sent. I dithered and then they were gone! Own up, who bought them!

I've ordered 4 sets on back order. £13 for 4 rubber grommets...I must be mad.

Not the postman but popped into town yesterday and visited Decathlon. Loads of bits on sale. Picked up some Salomon xa mountain trainers for £21 reduced from £70. Picked up a poncho too to use on a (hiking) trip to Majorca. Heading out there just over a week to solo hike some of the GR221. Just taking a bivvy bag and using the poncho as waterproof/additional shelter. Need to get away for this rain and see some warm weather!

Went to Stanfords in Covent Garden as well to get a map. For anyone that's never been there before, it's well worth a visit although be warned that you'll get serious Wanderlust. They have every travel map, book and guide that you could ever want...

BB7 boots - If they're hard to get, try some trimmed v-brake noodle rubber covers, used them on mine, fit pretty well. Lasted well enough anyway.

Postie brought a Contour Roam 2 the other day.

Today he bought a bar 360 degree mount.

I blame Ian.

Not a Wot the postie brought me today but more of a Charity Shop Bargain show & tell. Rooting around in a local shop the other day I found a moldy old stuff sack with a bit of interesting blue fabric sticking out of it. I extracted the rest of the bag contents and found a, slightly lumpy, old down sleeping bag. After a 30 degree wash with Ecover delicate fabrics liquid detergent and a long, slow tumble dry with a pair of kid's trainers I had a very warm, cotton lined Blacks sleeping bag with nice, even down distribution in the baffles. It dosen't pack down small enough for bikepacking but will be brilliant for base camp duties, kayak camping, etc. My friend James, who's an old skool mountaineer (and has climbed the Matterhorn) say's it's a top class bit of retro kit so not at all bad for £3.00 and a minor ear assault for running a tumble drier non stop for several hours :-)

I believe they are all made in the UK, so it may be work emailing Nick to cheekily ask if they can made one/preorder one for you

A shiny new Alfine 8 hub

Somehow I've managed to kill my current one after 4 years of abuse and no maintenance.
Does anyone know anything about servicing/getting them running again? I could do with a few pointers

It's taken a while, but was worth the wait, a lot of very nice details. Should hopefully have it up and running in a couple of weeks.
