That is very neat, and solve the issue of how to mount an Exposure Blaze when you've got a saddle harness on. Will be buying at least one...voodoo_simon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 12:36 pm Restrap has a few new products but this I like a lot

Cheaper than the Nitto ones so I'll look out for one of those.

Yes and it was all done to save weight and now those cassettes weigh 600g + ( unless you get very spendy) so you no longer save weight over 2 x

Mud and grit is mud and grit whether one ring or two at the front ( 1 x is generally a bit quiter with grime )simplify drivetrains, make them less susceptible to grotty conditions, not bounce off on bumpy terrain, allow bigger tyre and mud clearances for frames, reduce chainsuc
Narrow wide rings exist because 1 x dropped chains where as front derailleurs systems dont really. I dont see how that can be an an advantage its a weakness . Granted they fixed it but its not better it now just works as well as what it replaced
My 2x longitude had 2.8 tyres so 1 by is not essential for wide tyres Does probably make it easier to be fsir as no mech in the way
Chain suck is due to worn rings rsther than an inherent fault in either sysytem.
I have two of each ( 2 x 11 x 2 and 1 x12 x 2 ) so do use both. The 1 x 12 wear chains quicker but both work.

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...
1x makes FS design simpler as they don’t have to compromise between optimising for the big ring or the small ring.
Going from my old 3x9 to a (moderately wide 11-40) 1x setup I lost 3 ratios but in all honesty I don’t use the top ratio or two that much anyway so I’ve almost the same range as before. YMMV, etc.

I saw the same thing done well with a couple of spare top caps and a 10 - 15mm headset spacer. £7's not bad though is it.

I tried that method but couldn’t get it to work, found the way it sat against my carbon fork wasn’t great. You need two top caps so it doesn’t sit flush but then struggled to find a bolt long enough, so bought one of eBay similar to Paul Components but ever so slight cheaper by Bobbin bikes (about £20)jameso wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 7:55 amBoab wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 1:26 pmThat is very neat, and solve the issue of how to mount an Exposure Blaze when you've got a saddle harness on. One piece riding suit, I’m sort of tempted but not
Apparently if you use code OUTLET you get some extra money off too
Someone was asking about them recently on here, but can’t find the thread

I'm obviously missing something. I see collection of grey tubes and functional parts and a wide tyres but mediocre cable disk brakes...
. But it just a 'Grovel bike'.
Where is the artistry and fancy lug work etc...

You’re missing nothing! That’s sort of the point for me, nice clean, simple lines

As a side, i do like gravel bikes though. They work really well for me in the area I live and my style of riding
