Its either going to be the end of the world (or the uk) or it'll have to stop raining and blowing a hoolie sooner or later...
Went for a ride today, had to pedal down hill on a road I've coasted to 40mph before now. Got blown off balance into a ditch on lantern pike too. (also, got sprayed with slurry by a farmer just rub salt (poor show) in the wound...
Whats going on with the weather, I think is the question.... if there was a question?
I know, it's ridiculous. I fear it's my fault too as I've had loads of time off lately and not been able to do anything productive.
Booked a flight to Mallorca and on the back of that, heavy rain is now forecast to head that way.
I was absolutely f'in livid after my ride the other night. Trails I expected to be wet but rideable had been largely destroyed by horses. After I'd slogged my way through a long section of it I found the trail irrevocably blocked by fallen trees.
My motivation to ride evaporated in the face of wind, rain, fallen trees and the largely insensitive actions of the horse riding fraternity. Just because you can take your horse down that bridleway in wet weather doesn't mean you should.
Everything round here is trashed, mainly all the mud has washed away from tracks, so they are now just bare stone. And round here, it's sharp flint. What tracks there are that don't have good drainage, are totally trashed by the horse riding toffs.
I manage a good road ride in a 4 hours sunny spell on tuesday, not been out since, apart from walking the dog, and getting soaked every time. Meh.
Ohh, I dont know, it's character building.. maybe? In all seriousness, went out for a solid ride today (east anglia - Norfolk) so no weather 'that' horrific. But the mud enough to make a grown man cry.. (I didnt, but came close to it - once you've sunk up to half the bike and fallen off more than 5 times, to coincide with 3 punctures a small part of you dies)
Been sick all week so I haven't really noticed it. Still going for my 4 day, 3 night bivi next week in mid Wales. I think one day is forecast as cloudy.
It's still going full beans here rattling against the windows.
I'll likely have a quick spin but mostly save my legs for tomorrow's slightly less crappy forecast
down here on the Solent a good part of our favourite local route has gone the cliffs have collapsed. 80knot gusts last night recorded at Hurst Castle combined with a high spring tide there will be more cliff damage
It's not too bad here today. There's been loads and loads of damage. Our phone line is down (broadband is satellite based). Local beaches have completely disappeared. All the holiday chalets have been completely washed away at Branscombe, so I hear on the yocal grapevine.
Gonna get out for a long ride in the nice weather forecast tomorrow.
Was going to head over to the Long Mynd today, but in the end decided I cba with the driving to ride and then dealing with the wind.
So I went out for a local 20 miles, the trails were actually better than I expected, a lot less mud or churned up ground, lots of trees down of course and that made for very slow progress at times but all in all a pretty nice ride.
see what happens when im stuck in the garage all afternoon... (yes, the seatpost is too high)
No not really. Did you break out and while making your escape suffer a high speed crash into the washing line? Or escape through the window by turning the ladders into a high level North shore skinny? ... whatever it was, it certainly wasn't weeding between those flags!

how very droll... allow me to elaborate...
I full in a suspect damaged area with some resin, then I raided the parts bin in a big way, nicked some brakes from my SS, made a 6 speed cassete from 105 / ultegra bits and assembled a bicycle that I done really need and am a little afraid to ride due to aforementioned suspect area
*additionally; ladders and weeds = not my department

I did that once....I've since then gave up on Carbon fibre MTBs, but not before I spent a while panel beating a brass protection plate and a home made BB92 shim to try and stop it happening again
