I saw that Gail Brown was the first Brit to finish and in a quick time. I had not heard of her before this race.
Jerry Sharp who I am following is constantly switching between blue and white dot as he is around the 28 day time, he is 66. He is approaching Cuba just behind the dot so I think he will be OK unless something goes very wrong.

The looney on the fixed has finished. 42x16 with 38mm tyres, so somewhere around a 72 inch gear.

I'd been following his dot. Even though he's got previous with the TD, that is some achievement.

This. I think we left AC at 2am...got to Rawlins at 5pm and ate like animals.
The Basin is a beautiful ride...when it's dry and the wind is in your favour.
The Basin with mud would be testing.

I camped at Atlantic City, had a leisurly breakfast at the saloon, no idea what time I left. I was in no particular rush and camped well before Wamsutter, I spent a night there too before heading off to Savery. I got chatting to some of locals there and as it was late decided to camp before heading off to Brush Mountain the next day. The joy of touring.

I first heard of Gail Brown when she completed the COVID, completely self sufficient, edition of GBDuro.Blackhound wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 9:46 am I saw that Gail Brown was the first Brit to finish and in a quick time. I had not heard of her before this race.
I think she's brilliant, always seems to be smiling, fantastic attitude.
Went to a talk with her in January just before she did Atlas Mountain race.
She had some interesting thoughts on using lots of rest and food as a strategy, think she said she'd written about it somewhere, can't find it right now.
A good egg.

Thanks Verena. I didn't recall the names of the riders who did the GBDuro that year and perhaps not enough interest in all the races. Will be interesting to see what she does in the future.
