Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...
I think Alex Moulton's philosophy was focused on the truss frame being light and stiff, and the small wheels having a smaller contact patch so less rolling resistance than 700c. Being able to break them in two came later. The ATB version got quite a following, back in the day. Not very good on potholed roads though given the wee wheels...

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...
Isn't it just.. there is nothing else I want more at the moment. Well, want a test ride on at least. Knowing the RRP though it doesn't matter that they're only 30 mins down the road. It's not unreasonable for what goes into it imo but it's more than I can justify. Still, I think it's a stunning bike. I have a perfect fast road touring bike in mind and a thing about truss / girder forks. Love it.This is a genuinely cool bike, first disc Moulton:

the stainless moulton speed is a thing of beauty. £11k i think. if i were to ever become a single for keeps bike owner, i would not hesitate to buy one.

My dad has a Moulton with an alfine hub.
It's lovely to ride. Very nippy and comfy.

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...
That Moulton brings me much joy, although as a current owner of 2 F frame '60s & '70s Moultons (a mk1 with a sturmy 5 speed hub and a mk3), and as former owner of a custom painted Brigestone Moulton I'm definately biased
I collected the Bridgestone from the Moulton factory, and Shaun Moulton (Dr Moulton's nephew) formally introduced me to Dr Moulton as he passed by, with the line that my (not so) inner Moulton geek will forever remember and enjoy: "Dr Moulton, may I introduce Dr Williams - who's collecting his Bridgestone model today".

Not so much a gravel grinder.... more a gravel (mud and tarmac) groveller...

Didn't know about the bridgestone one. That lot on bikepacking.com get all excited about '80;s and '90's bridgestone mountainbikes (which never made it over here as far as I recall)
Here Reg, one of these would be right up your street!

Article here from eurobike on luggage, shows a range of Aceoac stuff. I thought they’d ‘gone under’ as it was beginning to get difficult to find their stuff

Just imagining how comfy the camp (ride to camp or camp to ride?) could be. Should have underfloor heating.pistonbroke wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 3:12 pm I'll just leave this here

Would make the champagne taste even better during that Greenland traverse.

It's surprisingly difficult to knit inside a bivvy bag.

Not quite new gear and definitely not new bikes but, indoors mountain biking anyone?

Half of me thinks WTF and the other part thinks, well, why the hell not! Indoors skiing, climbing, gyms, swimming and man made surf centres have all taken off, so why not this?

Always strikes me the beauty of this bike each time I visit (the thread). Looks fantastic and the lack of 'inside the frame' cables is so cool. 10/10. Bet it rides ace
Liking this colour

Schwalbe Wicked Will new in Schwalbe's lightest mtb casing option - "Super Race", yet the second grippiest compound - "Soft".
Unpectacular for most. Quite exciting for me though
Given their latest releases followed suite by availability, this should be in shops soon.

Two gears though? Impressive engineering, but can't see the advantage over hub gears, other than weight saving.ledburner wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 7:49 am 2 speed belt drive any one? It's not released yet...
