Thought I'd best post something up ... seeing as all the people asking for a seperate MYOG section have vanished
So, any idea what this is?
Cross piece is stainless, top and bottom cups are aluminium and cut away to allow the cross piece to locate within them. 10.5mm hole goes through everything. Here's a clue ... it's something to do with carrying gear.

At first, i thought it was something like
this , but with only a 10.5mm hole, i cant see how you would mount this anywhere near the bars.
The only place i could think to mount it would be using the QR skewers, but im not sure if mounted there what carrying capacity it would offer.
Im very interested to find out what its for now!

I can see why you'd think that ... but no, it isn't one of those.

Nope.
Here's another clue ... this will be a substitute for something
all bikes already have.

Or maybe a seatpost with a hole in it to attach something (a rack?) ?

inc' 20" wheeled shoppers but the relationship of the parts on a shopper don't allow me to fit something without using this. ????

You already know the hole is 10.5mm, what more do you need?
Tying to think what's got an M10 thread ... Rear axle or dérailleur bolt are the only two. Does it fit in place of the rear wheel/axle?

Oh aye, I forgot you'd seen bits strewn over the workshop

The bolt size is a bit of a red herring ... don't think about what it could bolt to, better to think what it could do if it were bolted in a specific place.

Some sort of extension to the steer tube to lift the front end high enough for a dropped handlebar?

It bolts to the top of your steerer tube and you can use it to hang you hammock from when you can only find one other hanging point

Well done that man ... This bolts onto the headtube. The distance between the fork crown and the bars is about 3 miles, so I needed something to take the place of the fork crown for the bottom straps.
