Popped out to see Sean Conway this afternoon, cycled with him for 10KM or so and he was doing 180KM with a swim and a run on top! And he’s ermm doing that 102 consecutive times!!

That’s right, he’s doing 102 consecutive Iron man triathlons…

Thought I'd save this till today - your efforts at this years WRT mean that the Wales Air Ambulance are now better off to the tune of £3365. I don't keep a proper score but I believe that now takes the running tally to around 40k. Well done.

In other news, tomorrow, I shall be riding project Death Trap for the first time this year. It promises to be sunny and I have a date with the National Chopper Club along the coast near Aber'. My brother is also coming along on his new purchase which I've yet to see.

Money doesn't buy happiness. But when you get an email from your building society* to say they're giving you £100 as a dividend, it does make you a little cheery. Also, money can buy wine, and that definitely makes you cheery

*Coincidentally, I've just closed my last bank account after my savings matured, and switched to the building society in the hope what (relatively) little money I have will do more good, or at least less bad.

Funnily enough Dave, I was thinking I need to invest my savings in something more worthy and ethical, namely me. More bikes, more bikepacking stuff, more food and beer.
As usual the weekend before the Highland Trail is always a bit unreal - no bike riding (I'm tapering, don't you know), lots of kit faffing, trying not to look at the route (again) and trying not to over think it. As a distraction I will be motorcycling (hopefully without crashing it again!) up to my friends place for a beer or 2 and a barby; and to reflect on where the HT has gone since my pal Iona did it in 2014.... (and I scratched )

On reflection yes. I've just finished another hectic week at work, just completed an online psychometric test for a job I'm applying for (exactly as bad as you can imagine) and tomorrow I'm off bikepacking for a week round the heelands in the face of a totally dry weather forecast. Given I did the BB300 last year in the complete dry then this means I'll probably never ride a bike in dry weather ever again!
In theory I've to stick to a specific route but anything may happen....

Worked till just before 1600, 1 hr longer then anticipated. Got riding 15 min later. Rode some 126 km, ~80 % on easy double tracks (some may know it as gravel) a tiny bit on single tracks, very little road. 90 km tail wind, 36 head wind. A few very short stops, some hare, birds, flower, fox observing, but mainly a solid 5 hrs of fun.
Fun being especially the 1365 loose corners.
First "proper" effort since I had a cold and feeling great, despite HR being all over the place.
