After the MIPS failed in my old one that I've had for years


A treat to mysefl before this week's upcoming wet weather forecasted trip to Scotlandchestershire

But the wife delivered me this news this morning

And as she's the carer for her mother who lives with us, muggings here has to 1) avoid Covid 2) do all of the caring
Hopefully she's ok to "care" from Monday evening or at the latest Tuesday afternoon so Les and I can make our escape north of the border

What do you think of the restrap straps? Was looking at these myself as an alternative to voile

I got them as an alternative to Voile straps, but having never used, or even handled, a Voile I can't comment on if they're better or worse. I bought the longest, which was just enough to go round my tent and hold my waterproof jacket to the front of the bike last weekend. Not sure they would've gone around a fully packed out Restrap front harness, and a jacket, they could defo offer an XL length option. Dead easy to use though, and no issues with them coming undone or owt.

Sorry to hear that Jon. Lovely shoes (I have the non ankle versions and I love em). Sorry to hear about the covid result. Thankfully it's not the same these days as it was. All hospitals are quite and the last time I saw a covid patient they were there for other reasons (and not falling apart).

I've got a couple of the shorter ones and I think they're great. Feel really strong so you can pull them nice and tight, and the hypalon grips a bit rather than slipping over stuff. Wouldn't have considered them a direct replacement for Voile straps (which I have but don't use very much) but I'm sure in a lot of applications they're just as good or better.

A Mezcal and Barzo combo, both in 29 x 2.6 flavour, from BikeInn. Decent price, but took just under 5 weeks to arrive! Probably won't use them again if in a hurry, but their comms weren't bad when I chased them though...

I’m glad I cancelled my Mezcal and ordered another Barzo for the rear, I wouldn’t have had the patience for 5 weeks Quite like the 2.6 up front though, seems to work well

With one of those gas cylinder refill adaptor thingies and a pack of plastic 5ml centrifuge tubes (with caps) so that I can take small amounts of hers ('erbs) and spices when out bivvying/camping.

After many years of searching, I am now the proud owner of a Zpacks Hexamid Solo and bathtub floor.

From the date on the label, it looks like it was one of the last made before the model was discontinued.

A little less room than the Lunar Solo, but a similar vibe. Saves about 300 grams.

Tom and I went up the hill this afternoon and put up a Lunar Solo, Gatewood Cape with Serenity Net, Hexamid Pocket Tarp and the Hexamid Solo then spent a while discussing the pros and cons.

They all have their strengths and weaknesses is our current verdict.

Notwithstanding the sad news about Planet X on the other thread, the postie brought me these Rival 1x shifters from them this morning. Look to be OE, as no official Sram box or instructions, but came bundled with cables in a plain box sealed with Sram sticky tape?. Still, pretty cheap at around £80 with postage. Hope they work OK, as returns could be interesting now

Finally getting round to converting the Kinesis CX bike to 1x, after too many issues trying to fettle the front derailleur earlier in the year. Have got all the other bits waiting, so drivetrain upgrade (‽) is now on...

Also this arrived a few days ago (Toaks siphon copy from eBay, and Toaks Tistand from Valley and Peak). Potstand cost more than the burner!

EDIT: just tried the siphon burner and Tistand in the garden. Appreciate its warm and no wind but seems to work brilliantly. Pretty quick boil. Pleased
