Thanks....Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:47 pm I don't know what happened there Reg, she usually has a fine and varied selection to hand. I shall put a word in.
I'm a little disappointed with my attempts at innuendo in that post but unfortunately I couldn't come up with anything better in the time allowed

Re: WRT GR.
This style of thing?

You could always wrap your bap in your 1st aid kit space blanket until you needed it for an emergency?

Not quite what I had in mind but that might be effective.
Re: WRT GR.
Anyone put together one of those mapping pages with all the grid refs in it? You'll be unsurprised to know that I haven't had time to make a route (or prep a bike), so now I'm rushing...

Re: WRT GR.
There's a link (duuno why I bother) on the GR email to a site that will do just that ... just type them in and hey presto, all the points on a single map.Anyone put together one of those mapping pages with all the grid refs in it? Re: WRT GR.
Don’t you just love it when you decide to upload your route to your device and your pc refuses to recognise the gps that you’ve not used in months
Re: WRT GR.
I have a route... sort of. Not checked if anything is rideable, and it's got an insane ratio of hills, but it's something!

Careful now! He hasn't said that he's got a complete bike yet

I do not. Currently no wheels, no chain and no brakes.

Love ya Rich, you're my absolute role model when it comes to last-minute prep

Re: WRT GR.
Shortly off to catch the Orient Express to Caersws and then we'll see what happens. Sadly not at the Wynnstay this time since seeing a mate tonight on the way.
Packing seems to be straightforward these days as it's exactly the same whatever the trip (assuming 2/3 day trip), and I reckon the only swaps are now summer/winter bag and different quantities of porridge. The bike's always the same and all the luggage is permanently on it apart from bar bag. Even take rain gear every time since a/ it's only a few hundred grammes, b/ it always rains on my trips anyway.
Also going to experiment with no navigation aids, apart from the compass. I say aids, I only have a paper map normally anyway. An area overview is pretty much brain-stored these days so I'm just going to ride off up the forest track and 'feel the force'. Or in my case probably 'feel the farce'
.
Have a great weekend folks

Re: WRT GR.
I've mostly packed my bags and I have quite a lot of space...I'm now frantically wracking my brains to think what I've forgotten!! ~
(Either that or a break form bikepacking has instilled a sudden ability to take less crap)

Re: WRT GR.
Preparations going quite well here - house has smelled very much of lemons all week, which must be a good sign
Just erected the 'Gallows of truth' and been to the shop to swap folding money for the jingly type for Matt's sweepstake float. Another trip out later to drop off the GLB in some seemingly random spot - should you find him, do being him back and your efforts will be rewarded with a custom Alpkit framebag.

I have made a gluten-free angel food cake to bring. It's definitely not a looker, as it practically exploded out the tin in the oven; which it's never done before. 🫣
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.
Re: WRT GR.
I'll be bringing a Banana Bread, curtesy of Charlotte.
Still no bike, though I do have wheels sorted.
Edit - A chain now too! Brakes next.

Re: WRT GR.
Eh? Thought you were at Pauline's? I'm old and confused.
Also had a looooong natter on the train with an interesting Brummie lady called Emma. She's off for the bank holiday in a caravan near New Quay; doing a bit of painting, kayaking, petting baby dolphins, boozing, mucking around. I very nearly had an emergency change of plan there....
Hope Hermione and Molly are doing the right thing and buying their rounds?

Had to bail. Bike, body and motivation issues. Didn't see any forms out near the carpark, and didn't want to disturb you by looking around in the yard (though I suspect I did anyway, as holy sh*t is that gate loud!).
Sigh. Especially sad to have missed out on cake and a chat at the end.
