Abergavenny, noon, 30th December.

Aberdovey to Abergavenny is 2hrs 20mins!!!
Can we split it and go to Rhayader?

How about a bothy trip?
Claerddu perahps, or Moel Prysgau?
Don't need some much gear then.
If anyone needs to borrow anything, I have a few bits and pieces I can share.

Bag of coal? Case of beer?
At least you can buy that locally rather than having to drive some up specially from London Town
Two bottles of beer and 20 pieces of coal each and we'd be sorted.

Never stayed in a posh bothy before.
Sounds good to me.
Will they not be busy during the holiday period?

Might get away with it, the night after and every bothie in Wales will be rammed. So what we saying ... everyone makes their own way there?
The bothie which stands the best chance of being empty would be Moel Prysgau but last time I was there they'd ripped out the snug. :?

yes there was a work party there if I remember rightly, I'll ask some of my Carmarthen-shire mates who I think went there a few weeks back.
But that's the joy of bothies is the chance there will be others there, I guess take some bivvy gear just incase more rooms are needed

Yep, twas a week long one but I don't know how much they got done.
There's plenty of sleeping space at Claerddu and everyone'll stay a bit dryer getting there ... I'm easy, happy to go with whatever :)

Nothing on the MBA site about how work progressed at MP, but I agree that one would be the quietest.
Stu, you're a man of leisure - do you fancy a ride to go and have a look?
As a loop ride from your place, it'd take you less than 24 hours

Our efforts to reinstate the inner room at Moel Prysgau at our October meeting went well and a touch of relative luxury has now returned to replace the 'baronial hall' feel of the last couple of years.
Hot of the press in the Winter 2011 edition of the MBA newsletter (No.178).

On the contrary, Cheeky Monkey, it ought to be us non-members who should be embarrassed.
//adds join MBA to 2012 to-do list
Thanks for the info though :)
Do we have a consensus forming then?
Moel Prysgau on the 30 December. The northern* group (Matt, Stu) could depart from somewhere around Strata Florida and the southern group (Me, flatfish, valleydaddy et al) from Abergwesyn, perhaps?
Aim to arrive at 4pm armed with 20 pieces of coal each, some beer, sense of humour and a spare pair of socks**.
* both by nature of geographic origin and relative location to Moel Prysgau
** you will get wet feet on approach...
edit: and this is my 300th post 8-)

can't see me making this I'm afraid - the Mrs is going to need a bit more help for a while - hopefully she'll be OK by Mach and Back!

Will go and renew membership this very moment ... thank you for the shove.
Will also get map out and look for a way in through the forest, above the bothy ... I'm pretty sure it's there
If not I'll try and find my neoprene surfing boots!

In terms of less gear? Isn't it just the same? (still take Bivi in case?)
