Re: Winter bivi ‘22
SWWB now officially off the ground. Or more likely under the ground judging by the comments so far.

Right then, not sure how much interest there is in a WWB, so I thought I'd try and find out (I think V's version further south is charging ahead).
My initial plan was to head further north but a 32mm spanner was thrown in the works and I now have 'transport issues', so if there is some interest I'll work something out but it will need to be closer to the Tower's than I'd first planned. If there isn't much interest, I'll embark on a solo mission directly from the front (back, we don't really use the front) door.

Going to have to give it a miss. I've being informed there's a family part that Saturday

Trying to ride bikes.

Re: Winter bivi ‘22
"Heavy snow showers" on Sat 10th, and hovering around 0degC from now until then. Shaping up nicely! Not convinced they can peer that far ahead though. And how can a shower be heavy, surely shower means not very heavy? Traditionally, the WB does attract some highly amusing weather though doesn't it? Those jaunts around Mynd and Kerry Ridgeway were somewhat memorable.

Re: Winter bivi ‘22
I believe that is catered for on the SWWB - potential bivi at the Highest Village In Wales

Have just ordered an extra (supposedly) waterproof (it won't be) beanie. Not that I'm flapping or anything.
Just reminiscing re past WB's. On the first Chilterns WB I remember I slept under a lawnmower in the snow, lying right next to Javi. That was a bit eccentric. Talking of the machine that is Javi, didn't he ride from London to Cornwall one Christmas? And back??. Astounding.

Re: Winter bivi ‘22
Officially (according to our weather provider) a shower is anything less than 30 minutes or so, and can be torrential to a light dreich!
Looking like full on winter up here, at least above a few hundred meters

Re: Winter bivi ‘22
So a shower is defined by the duration rather than the intensity? Weird.

Re: Winter bivi ‘22
The anticipation is over, let the disappointment begin .....
When? Next Sat, the 10th. Noon(ish) for one.
Where? Layby opposite the Star Inn Dylife SN863939.
Who? Anyone who fancies it.
What? A leisurely amble about the hills and valleys plus a bonus night out. Hope for the best but expect the worst - forecast is promising cold and possible sleet and maybe a little snow. I still haven't fully finalised a route but I have a few ideas which may change depending on the conditions.
Those expressing an interest thus far are - Zippy, Taylor, Burty, Viv and Mart.

I think at present, it's better to be safe and plan to bring ample food.

Glancing at the forecast - JC would be proud of me - and looking at a rather bracing -5c next Fri/Sat night

Didn't he sing about "Heavy Weather"?
No no, I refer to Mr John Climber, an esteemed personage of this parish, well known for his weather checking in advance of events

Yes, I've briefly met 'the' JC. Did he stay home to do the dishes? No no, I refer to Mr John Climber, an esteemed personage of this parish, well known for his weather checking in advance of events. I think one time he was analysing the weather a couple of days after a Winter Event.
