And apparently delivered a new Stooge Scrambler frameset. I'm not at home though so no idea who has signed for it, or even if its a the correct address

Re: The post man's been ...
I took a day off work to take delivery of a new bike, I got an email saying it had been successfully delivered even though nobody had been.
Total panic set it and somehow I managed to through to a very helpful person at RM who got hold of the driver, ten minutes later he was knocking on the door with my new bike.
He'd delivered it to the wrong street where the home owner answered on his Ring doorbell and asked the driver to leave my bike in his back garden, swine
A stern word for the driver and huge hugs for lady in the call centre

Did you get a small mystery package the other week Reg? If not, I've clogged up the fine inner workings of an expensive machine in a sorting office somewhere

Yes I did funnily enough! I couldn't quite work out who I'd mentioned the situation to. If it's tall oaks from little acorns grow, then thank you! They're sitting quietly in the dark awaiting rooting. They didn't get intercepted by the wildlife import inspectors anyway

Re: The post man's been ...
Blimey, that was an incompetent bit of seed identification there by me
. Admittedly I didn't look closely as I assumed they were acorns. Well they haven't sprouted yet so maybe eat half and bury half!
The four hazels I planted a while ago down by the river are now over seven feet high, so I'll stick these new ones nearby....

Bumper edition today
New Raleigh 29er wheel (see other thread for details), it’s heavy, narrow and proper old school but it was £40 with skewer
Just put parts across and seems to spin alright, just need to test ride it
2 pairs of Pearl Izumi gloves for different temps, one pair
is for now and one for the winter. £40 for both sets instead of £130 (IIRC) from sportspursuit

Sea 2 Summit Aeros medium ultralight pillow. 56g on my scales.
My Exped pillow-pump is very careworn now. A porky 140g but a/ it was a pillow, b/ it was comfy, c/ it pumped my Exped mats as well.
Obviously the S2S pillow doesn't pump the mats, but my Exped mini-pump will come out of retirement at 40g. So 40 + 56 is a saving of a princely 44g as well
.
Apologies to Pickers and Ben for not going with the Trekology jobby - heavier

Re: The post man's been ...
Busy day for my postie yesterday.
A box from SJS cycles with several boring, but essential bits to finish my Stooge. Rode it to work this morning (International Single Speed Day innit) and despite being mostly in the wrong gear, it was a nice start to the day.
Also a package with some rather nice bags from a sale at Spoked UK. The company is the same couple of fellas who hosted Dorset Divide and the bags are all hand made in Dorset. The small team includes finishers of Tour Divide, SRMR and Atlas MR, so they understand bike luggage requirements, but also run a company making boat sails. As you'd imagine, the stitching etc. is excellent

..with an Abus 2503 cafe lock to replace the one I lost along the Grand Union Canal somewhere south of Crick two weeks ago. Another 16 quid I could have done without spending.

Vaguely biking related...2 pairs of crash pants*.. for Myself & Mrs LB.
She ain't doin' biking
She decided to join me as a venture on the dark side on 'planks'* in Andorra after new year**,
Reluctantly with a party of rowdy outlaws. My hotel looked swank so she is chaparoning me, (best behaviour? ha!)
*Our ski legs are a bit rusty (20+yes) and we expect a few wipeouts arse side down... So no excused I bruised my hip /derriere and that's it.
** We've just blown 2023 all hols budget in first week of 2023
I've suggest bivvying for summer hols...
Edit:Should that be joining the light or White side

...with a new Arcteryx Squamish wind jacket to replace my now worn-out dark grey one. Its the one pice of hiking/biking gear that I've always said I'd go out and replace immediatley if I lost it.
