Re: BB200/300 2022 edition (no spoilers)
Phil, did it try and rename it to "Track"? That's what it appears as on my Garmin.
I looked at the actual file and this is the first part
< gpx version="1.1" creator="GDAL 3.2.1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1/gpx.xsd">
< metadata >< bounds minlat="52.195168000000002" minlon="-4.046559000000000" maxlat="52.610593140655219" maxlon="-3.060166000000000"/></metadata>
< trk>
Might not make much sense but there should be a <name>BB300</name> block after that lot - the BB200 file has one. It's that bit inside the < name> tags that is used as the track name on devices NOT the filename.

Correct Stu, but once you start.....
Bob, thats right, not something I'd noticed before. What confused me was that the name that appeared on the GPS was one I'd used to save a version from the OS app, even though this version had nothing to do with what I eventually used....
Looks like I have a viable track on the GPS so good to go. Maybe...

It took me far too long to realise that this was 143km into the 200 route and not the 300Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 8:36 amTo the SE at 143km. it's slightly off route but not by much.Any indication of distance from the start where this pearl may be found? It'd be a real shame to pass by unaware

Hope they've got a kettle

Your gpx files are a lot more "comprehensive" than they used to be a few years ago Stu. Doing something different these days?

I do. But when I feel low, a simple toilet makes me happy. It’s there as a treat should I require it. Haha.

I think there is a good quote from 'Trainspotting' along those linesEscape Goat wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 7:29 amI do. But when I feel low, a simple toilet makes me happy. It’s there as a treat should I require it. Haha.

Actually quite well catered for on the 300 route.
Re: BB200/300 2022 edition (no spoilers)
Excuse the noob question (I know right?), but is 8am the earliest start time for the 200?
Normally it's not an issue for me as I start late, but I'm in sub standard condition this year (hip problems) and I'd like to maximise the daylight as I think I'll struggle to get around.

Last year you let me leave at 10 to 8!

weather is looking warm, gloriously sunny, with only a light breeze.

any recent rain has soaked into the ground to leave no puddles and a firm riding surface.

Irrespective of what happens overhead, there will be plenty of sploshing down below after that rain today

Re: BB200/300 2022 edition (no spoilers)
I was over in the Lakes today and the difference from Monday is stark - the low lying fields in the Lyth and Winster valleys that were dry three days ago are now flooded - not sure if it's simply because the ground beneath the surface is still bone dry and rock hard so the heavy rain simply sloughed off and filled the becks and rivers which overflowed or the heavy rain last week (tales of sheep being washed away in Borrowdale) has saturated the upper layers. Might be a mixture of both. We needed to dig a hole today to put in a gate stoop and apart from the top centimetre or so it was bone dry down to a metre.fatbikephil wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 6:22 pm Irrespective of what happens overhead, there will be plenty of sploshing down below after that rain today![]()

Pretty much what I've been seeing up here too Bob. Hopefully by Saturday rivers will have calmed down a bit!

I went up Wrynose this Tuesday. Ppan was to go up and then back round (the rideable way) via Hardknotts. Was so windy up there that I had to abort. Came back down Wrynose and my rear wheel/tyre couldn't handle the wetness and locked out enough that I had to walk back down to stop myself sliding/riding off the road.whitestone wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 6:28 pmI was over in the Lakes today and the difference from Monday is stark - the low lying fields in the Lyth and Winster valleys that were dry three days ago are now flooded - not sure if it's simply because the ground beneath the surface is still bone dry and rock hard so the heavy rain simply sloughed off and filled the becks and rivers which overflowed or the heavy rain last week (tales of sheep being washed away in Borrowdale) has saturated the upper layers. Rivers were up quite a lot yesterday but nowhere near to what they can be at this time of year. Today, they're probably lower than average for the time of year.
Also interestingly, Nov is now officially busier rider wise than Oct.

With the other thread in mind, about carbon footprint of travelling to events, I'm driving down in Nov from Keswick. Also interestingly, Nov is now officially busier rider wise than Oct.
Is there anyone en route fancy a lift - M6, M56, A roads Chester, Corwen, Bala?

Like your man has cooked you some food. Cheap too.
Re: BB200/300 2022 edition (no spoilers)
If I can get up there early enough I'll pop my head in and say hello. I'm still at "no bike" stage right now though.

I'm pleased the BB200 traditions are being kept alive
