The obvious question you're asking - of course - is "when did you last see a hostess trolley on a canal boat?".

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Just arrived at the church (a type of location with which I am not entirely familiar I have to say I'm afraid, unless I'm stuck for a bivvy spot) and unloaded. The nice stall lady - our mate Katrina, who isn't the artefact painter lady - just explained about the painted stool, as I stood up from just sitting on it. "Oooh I gave that to Kath to paint. It used to be in my father's house; he died the other week. He always used to like sitting on that stool. <pause>. He was very incontinent you know".

And I'm trying to fly home today. That makes me cheery. It was 39 degrees here in Phoenix yesterday. I stayed inside

Yup - it used to be my Grans, bless her. It sits in my hall with inner tubes on the lower shelf and gloves and a couple of cycling lids on the top shelf. The wheels are very handy for wheeling it out of the way to find stuff that has fallen off the back.
Good stuff Reg, reminds me we forgot to do international tea day this year!

No wonder the post-TD comedown is feared... You announce your triumphant return to your fellow boners and it's lost in a babble of bicycle bars afternoon tea and pig racing

I do love this place.

Dunno why Steve even went over there in person when he could have done the whole thing from the comfort of his own armchair at home

Wonder if it ever became commercially available.
Equally homespun is this 'bikepacking game':

Anyone fancy knocking up a BBB version?

Or for the somewhat younger BBB-er we have what I believe is known as a 'video game', whatever one of those might be.

Anyway, much more suited to our style of riding I think:
"...being distracted by beautiful women in every city you pass through, and winning childish arguments with your riding partners..."
"...you will be fighting to keep your Morale-O-Meter above zero in the face of rain and snow, steep hills, vicious dogs, and the complete breakdown of your relationship with your riding partner...."
"...overcoming lifelong social awkwardness in order to persuade a beautiful Armenian girl to join you on your big life-changing bicycle adventure. Don’t say the wrong thing, or else she’ll leave the bar and the game will be over!"
"...another race against time to reach your girlfriend’s hometown of Tehran on your bicycle before her Morale-O-Meter reaches zero and she goes back to the perfectly decent life she had before she met you. As every aspect of life on the road is revealed to be utterly shit, you’ll have to come up with ever-more-ingenious things to say to keep her going..."
"...all the while accompanied by a voice in your head repeatedly asking ‘what the actual fuck are you doing here?’..."
If you make it through to the final level, implausibly: "they’ll give you a cup of tea and send you off to be reunited with your girlfriend, with whom you’ll live happily ever after".
Nice one Tom, you've captured the insanity perfectly

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
You could have some fun making up a BB200-esque game -
"you're caught in a hillside of tussocks miss four goes then only move for half the dice throw for 4 moves"
or pick up a "Get out of bog, free" card
"Advance to the Spar shop"
"GPS packs in, do not move until you receive an OS map card"
etc. etc....

In fact stranger games have turned into runaway successes. Count me in as a 'founder investor' Phil mate

Looking for a bicycle washstand yesterday I came across this ...

Maybe relevant for those who like to carry the kitchen sink

What a difference a week makes! This time last week I was excited about doing great things at the weekend, now I'm cheery because I seem to have gotten over the worst of covid, had a good nights sleep at last and sore throat has finally gone!

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Yesterday actually felt like summer and I had a visit from Kevin who was out riding his lovely BSA A10. We sat in the sun, drinking tea and talking bollox for a couple of hours ... lovely.
