He's got just a little bit more dirt to get done then it's 100K of road to the finish in under 20 days on a very tough year. This is great riding from Steve, wishing him an amazing sunrise and a tailwind to the end

He's on the road now (well I'm assuming it's road, it's got numbers and everything
)
Bizarre aside - I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSiKF4YOrfo about a stream that starts exactly on the continental divide and then splits to flow into both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. At about 5:40 it talks about the Great Basin which is one of a handful of Endorheic basins in the world - basically water flows in but not out, it's lost by evaporation not drainage.

Steve, Colin and Ana all together on the final straight. Looks like the wind is slightly favourable. That beer in Jeffs cooler is going to taste so so good ;-)

Tune in folks, ~40 miles to go

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.
Keep up, less than 25 now

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

The worst thing on this section is the marker every mile counting you down. But he's flying along

Less than 5 miles to go now on those marker posts Dave

Ana wins the ladies race, I bet Steve would be bouncing too if only his dot would update

Well, AJ is bouncing and I reckon Steve crossed the line with her. !9 days and approx. 1 hour. What a star!!

Yeah, he's probably been stood at the side of the road surrounded by rattlesnakes unable to move for 37 minutes with only 7.7 miles to go

I reckon the three of them rolled in together [side-by-side of course]

Chapeau and what an achievement .
I have no excuses to not average 120 tarmac miles per day on a lejog
Dave will be delighted I am doing it on a drop bar bike

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.
Never really understood that with ladies bikes because they (ladies) usually have longer legs than men; probably due to them wearing skirts?Dave Barter wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 3:34 pm Ana won ladies race on a dropped bar bike. Just saying..

[awaits debate on difference between tubes and bars... Oh, and percentage of female entries relative to percentage of drop barred bikes relative to....]

Now you've done the warm-up if you hurry up and get back it's the YD300 on Saturday

Yes but was it a 'gravel' bike, an 'adventure' bike, a 'dropped bar mountainbike' or a cutthroat? If it was a cutthroat, then it was designed for the job so no surpriseAna won ladies race on a dropped bar bike. Just saying..
