That does sound like contentment I agree, there's nothing wrong with having dreams, ambition or goals. I suppose my point was really that many people seem to see possession and purchase as the way to achieve it. Perhaps as you say, the fear of missing out is partially responsible for that?

Make a choice and then enjoy doing whatever it is. 'Live in the moment' I guess. Time doesn't allow you to go back and change your mind and regrets are no good.
Yep, spot on, that's generally my motto.
Agree with you too Stu.
And I'm sure you can learn German while gardening and supervising your daughter painting at the same time?
Nothing you can buy will ever make you more whole
This whole thing thrives on us feeling always incomplete
And it is why we will search for happiness in whatever thing it is we crave in the moment
And it is why we can never really find it there
It is why you will sit there with the lover that you fought for
In the car you sweated years to buy
Wearing the ring you dreamed of all your life
And some part of you will still be unsure that this is what you really want
Stop craving
Hold your own
But if you're satisfied with where you're at, with who you are
You won't need to buy new make-up or new outfits or new pots and pans
To cook new exciting recipes for new exciting people
To make yourself feel like the new exciting person you think you're supposed to be
Happiness, the brand, is not happiness
We are smarter than they think we are
They take us all for idiots, but that's their problem
When we behave like idiots, it becomes our problem
So, hold your own
Breathe deep on a freezing beach
Taste the salt of friendship
Notice the movement of a stranger
Hold your own
And let it be
Catching

O wow , thanks for this boxelder, that's quite something
Yeah, not really what you were referring to, I know but as happiness etc came up, I thought I'd share Kae's words (any excuse.....). Still haven't been for that ride, but the fridge is clean and the shopping's done. And the rain's stopped. All good.
i waste so much time thinking which hobby i want to do half a day is wasted, so i try and cram as many things into the remaining time left and still don't get to do everything.
it's not that I can and others can't, it's that I will and others won't.
Choice - yep, reckon we have choice, which pretty much equates to control. Free will on the other hand … I’m increasingly of the opinion it’s an illusion.

From the old hippies handbook - You are totally free to choose but not free not to choose.
I see this is now amended to - You are free to choose, but you are not free to alter the consequences of your decisions.
