eBikes for the ladies?

Does anyone know anything about ebikes for the more intelligent half of society? I’m looking to get Helen something road/gravel orientated to help with her arthritis. I know nothing about them at all, was wondering what I should be looking at?

I don't know much about them, sorry, but I did see a Cannodale Topstone egravel bike in a shop and it looked really good. At first glance I didn't even realise it was electric. Both myself and InReverse thought it looked well designed and built.

Might depend on your budget? But having just published another best seller you must be ££££ now

I too know nothing but was very impressed by the Sonder (Camino?) proto I rode. Don't know how far off it is though.

Orbea might be worth a look? They have e bikes at the lighter end of the spectrum. Have good things about them in general. One of the chaps in my MTB club got a road e bike for his wife and it's led to better marital harmony on their rides

Not a gravel bike, but my sister got herself one of those Ribble eBikes that's got the motor in the rear wheel. Totally transformed her riding, so can go further, brother-in-law doesn't have to push her up hills, so she is enjoying it much more. Other than the weird hover bar, I quite like the look of the Canyon Grail:ON.

Dave, take a look at the Specialized Creo. They do both alloy and carbon versions in a road and 'evo' configuration. 'Evo' has a dropper post and wider tyres, that's the only difference. Both the frame's (road/evo) are the same and will easily take 47mm tyres. My understanding is that once you go past the assisted threshold (15.5mph) the hub motors (Ribble etc) are like cycling through treacle. The Specialized's have BB motors with no such drag. The 15.5 mph limit is obviously easily exceeded on most rides on the flat but there is an easy 'fix' to remove the restrictor.
They obviously come with a weight penalty but it's not noticeable once rolling.
I know someone who'd be happy to let her try one if that helps?

I don't know about them being for the ladies, my mate has just got an e-bike (the Ribble gravel one of these https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-gravel-al-e/ ) on the Cyclescheme, I think it highly likely that when we all come to renew it will be down the e-bike route

Your not wrong. They are a lot around second hand and normally some good discounts on last year's or year before models. Mainly just a difference in paint colours
Vado's the flat bar version and cheaper. Just double check geometry, they come up small so probably want a larger size than you'd normally go for.

I'm on a similar mission, looking for something 'gravelly', that will handle a bit of lite MTB. Try and get a look at rear wheel vs BB motors. My favoured option is the Fazua drive. I’ve had an Orbea Gain for around three years, Mrs Pickers uses it now if we’re out together.
My 2p worth… splendidly reliable, uses the same hub motor as the Ribble (and Colnago I believe). No problem pedalling either with the motor off or above the 15.5 mph cut off.
The battery is fixed in the frame so you need a wall socket next to where the bike lives to charge it.
Current ones come with a USB port and connections to hardwire lights.
Don’t know how good the warranty was as I never needed it. Biggest issue proved to be that it wasn’t transferable which basically made it unsellable.
How tall is Mrs B? I’m on a small with a 32” inseam…
If they been about when I bought mine I’d have likely chosen a Fazua drive bike.

Our lbs has closed and been cleared out apart from an Orbea electric ladies bike in the window for £400 ish.
I can get the phone number for the details if you like.
Its light admiralty grey in colour and probably a couple of years old as they never reopened after the first lockdown.
It might be an Optima as seem to remember it has a rack on the back.
No idea what size.
