I'm a maybe.
Is the idea to ride as a group?

Not really. The idea is to offer some meet up opportunities during the ride (for those who want that). Happy to suggest longer routes for those wanting more challenge. Just an excuse, if it's needed, to come to Keswick and ride for a couple of days.

Thanks so much for all the effort Andy... Much appreciated.

Re: North Lakes Spring Break - 19-20th March
Would anyone be interested in riding as a group?
Be fairly relaxed.
If lots we can split across a couple of groups.
Stopping for photos, snacks, and admiring the view.
We'd aim to stop at one of the bivi spots.

I was under the impression the intention was for a non competitive groupride type thing. I'm interested in riding with others in a group.

Chatting with Boxelder.... he devised a route, and suggested a weekend.
Thereafter letting the cats scatter.
I asked Boxelder if he minded my suggesting a group ride for the less anti-social amongst us.

Not a problem
Essentially, do as we please.

Tempted, a group social ride with short cuts if the weather is bad would be my choice

I'd be up for a semi-group ride too... 'Semi' cos when everyone else stops for the compulsory pub stops I'll probably continue on and then maybe regroup later downstream (or is it upstream!! Still figuring out that descriptor word)...

Short cut…..JohnClimber wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:58 pm Tempted, a group social ride with short cuts if the weather is bad would be my choice
Take a packraft and go across the lakes.
Re: North Lakes Spring Break - 19-20th March
I'm happy to act as a bit of a guide for a group ride. The route allows for shortcuts and extra bits and there are some great 'cheeky' alternatives which I can suggest. It's fairly simple to suggest a couple of points to re-group for those who want a social time, but are riding faster/slower than others. If some are keen to beast themselves, that can be accommodated too. The wooded areas around Loweswater/Crummock are ideal for sleeping, leaving a relaxed pedal back over Honister and around Borrowdale.
Here's Crummock - Honister is to the left of the shapely peak in the background (Fleetwith Pike)

Edit - Shaf, it is a shame that this end of the Lakes has fewer opportunities for non-pub refreshment, but there's certainly the cafe in Whinlatter and the village shop in Lorton, among others.
Edit2 - also cafes in Buttermere for Sunday morning (probably) and Borrowdale.

I’ve camped many a time on that area middle frame in the distance.

Oh dear. My work rotating just came through/finalised. Sadly I'm out. Boxelder, when do you think is the earliest to visit with a good chance of that scenery you tookredefined_cycles wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 12:36 am Yes pls. Am in. Pending fixing the bike (just need to swap the calipers out) and ensuring my off duty doesn't clash. Thanks for organising it![]()

Re: North Lakes Spring Break - 19-20th March
Sorry to hear that Shaf.
Re. the group riding, my experience of these things is they tend to work themselves out, and groups of people with similar pace/approach to stops will form of their own accord. I'll just turn up and see who gets bored of me slowest

err, you have lost that race already mate. i shall be attending at 5mph offroad.........I'll just turn up and see who gets bored of me slowest

Re: North Lakes Spring Break - 19-20th March
That is a shame Shaf - was looking forward to watching you cross the 'rocks of doom' on Lonscale Fell near the start (seem to recall you don't enjoy exposure....)
Only kidding, they're fine. The route's all season, though drier is better obviously. It's pretty dry at the moment to be fair, but April/May or September probably best, as fewer folk around. Most of the pics I've posted were last week.

I’m in. South Lakes based but not done much riding up that way so it’ll be nice to try some new spots. Happy with a group bimble too.

Re: North Lakes Spring Break - 19-20th March
I was in the Lakes over twixmas/NYE and stayed near Lorton. For anyone going past the Kirkstile Inn, it's definitely worth stopping by for a pint of Loweswater Gold
