Well done Jose, some great trips there - I've added you to the list. I think the Cairngorm bivvy may score you a BAM altitude record!

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

To be honest I was expecting Jeff aka summit toppler to get on this as well!
There are those wee horse shoe shaped rock shelters on the top of Macdui....hmmmm...

Yeah. Neither Braeriach nor Nevis seem like a pleasant prospect with a bike.JoseMcTavish wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:08 pmColin edges it - I was probably about 5m lower than the summit, dagnamit! Suppose I better push on a bit for Macdui this year...

Thanks Cheeky!
Yeah, Macdui's definitely the pick of the top 3 for a bike! Now here's a thought - who had the highest and lowest cumulative elevation for the year if they add up the elevation of their bivy spots for each month? I'm away to do some mathematics!ScotRoutes wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 2:26 pm Yeah. Neither Braeriach nor Nevis seem like a pleasant prospect with a bike.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
You've got to define it better than that. My hoose is about 220m! Do you mean the total amount climbed getting to all 12 BAMs or the total altitude of all 12 BAMs? If it's the former, some of mine will be negativeJoseMcTavish wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 5:11 pm Thanks Cheeky!

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
4047m but that's for all 20. Picking one for each month leads to 3275m max and 2602m min
I did think of calculating height gained for every before and after bivvy ride but I'd need the promise of a badge to go that far

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
It's too easy to do this with Strava!
2020 = 2467m
2019 = 3571m
2018 = 3695m
Could have done the actual climbing figures too, but decided to stop whilst it was on the verge of healthy obsession

If I did all my bivis this year at the highest point of the Island my total would be 2880m so maybe I'll see if I can get in enough mainland trips to beat that.

I've been trawling back through the 2019, 2020 and 2021 threads. It's been great. As well as reliving some of my own rides, I've been re-reading other folks stories too. Shame that so many photos are now missing but they're a great archive. I've also "found" a couple of bivvies I'd forgotten about so my total is now 95. That 100th is getting closer!!!
And has anyone spotted Jeff? I'm expecting him to blow these numbers away.

WE, cheeky disused office building, Dyfi forest, nicely found by Bearlegged's finely-tuned spot radar.
