I have a sealed 4 pack and an opened 4 pack - might be used (not sure). They're AA Energizer Lithiums

No use to me as my SPOT takes AAA.

I just buy them from Amazon. They usually arrive next day, which is quicker than me searching around trying to find them "locally" (i.e. driving to Inverness and back).

I read somewhere that the Energizer Lithiums should only bought in a sealed pack or they are probably copies.
I purchase mine from ebay and they have got more expensive recently.
Used a company called Go Green Batteries for years and have always been good.

Out of interest more than anything else - what are you guys using them for?

I tend to put them in things that I need to use infrequently but know they'll always have some charge. Don't get through many at all, the cost really puts me off. What are you using them for?

Advantages;

Cold weather performance (helpful when I was in Finland)
Last longer than anything else (my eTrex 30 lasts about 40 hours on a pair*)
Lighter weight

* the pair I put in for the BB300 were reading 2 out of 4 bars on the battery indicator at the end of the event (27hr ride time)

I have those too, but the power rating is a bit misleading as they show mWh rather than the usual mAh. That means you burn through them relatively quickly.

mAh mWh converted from mWh, just divide by voltage... current = wattage/voltage

mAh =mWh/Voltage

Yep, that's my point. I'm not accusing them of intentionally misleading buyers by using a unit of power that no one else does but...

In any case, the point is that you might have to carry more - or charge them more regularly - than you might expect.

Energiser lithium's are 3000mAh, I've seen Enloop rechargeables at 2700mAh, so not much in it.

I've switched over to rechargeables for everything, the main advantage is that I know they are fully charged at the start of a trip. With lithiums I end up with part used ones and you don't know how much charge is left in them.

There are also the cost and environmental benefits. If I was going somewhere very cold I would use lithium in the Spot for the guaranteed cold weather performance so I'd know it would work if required.

Yeah, that's what I do. I just charge the batteries before I use them to ensure they're maxxed out.

Have never had a problem with capacity (which I test from time to time, as I have a charger that can analyse the batteries).

Didn’t Bob have an issue in the BB300 with some rechargeable batteries that wouldn’t work? I guess you can have lithiums fail, too, but it’s never happened to me.

FWIW, I use regular AA NiMh’s for general use and only get the AA lithiums for events when I want one less thing to have to think about.

Though most of the time I don’t even use a GPS anymore, I just ride and make it up as I go along / know generally where I’m going / want to go.

Yes, they were Duracell rechargeables, they are NiMH rather than lithium. I started a thread about "decent" rechargeables.

I've not found that, they last for ages in my old Garmin Oregon
