Have you been back to the little cottage from last year's winter trip?
I’ve been abart a bit
Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
Padlocked shut apparently.
Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
I popped in for a nosy during the WRT and someone has put a yale lock on the front door.sillybigfella wrote:Have you been back to the little cottage from last year's winter trip?
You can get in from the back and open it from the inside though

Somwones probably locked it for a reason :(

And with your expert tuition on using the tarp poles the wind shouldn't be a problem either! :DI have to say, it's almost balmy at the moment ... 9.00am yesterday morning felt like dawn in June. Given where we'll (hopefully) be spending the night, wind could be the biggest factor, although I'm hoping that the spot I have in mind is fairly sheltered.

Saturday night will be quite windy by the look of it. 14m/s forecast in Pennal

We'll be up at 300m or so and only 2km from the coast so I magine it might feel worse. There's a back-up forest nearby if need be but it will require everyone to spread out a bit.Saturday night will be quite windy by the look of it. 14m/s forecast in Pennal

Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
Apologies for the pic quality but due to the wet and windy nature of the weather, they were taken from within a plastic case
Plenty of type 2 fun was enjoyed / endured, everyone soaked and cold by the time we took sanctuary within a forest at dusk ... Even with the forest cover it was a pretty wild night :D
Great company, the usual Welsh assortment of hills you weren't quite expecting, wet bits and superb views hidden by mist ... c'mon what's not to like?

Composite or Fagin?

Ian and his Puffin heading for the wet, slippy, slabby bit.

Part of this mornings camp, the rest is scattered throughout the trees.

Winter Bivvy Class of '13, just before buying the Spar out of hot sausage rolls ... and no, I'm not being sick.

Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
Cheers for the ride guys, struggled a lot but suppose that's not really surprising given I've hardly ridden since June.
