I know these float on the sand well, but do they have sand proof bearings?Ian wrote:Will there be a bit of beach for me to ride the Puffin on?

Can you tell me how sand proof bearings differ from ordinary sealed cartridge bearings, such as you might find fitted in Hope hubs? :?Zippy wrote:I know these float on the sand well, but do they have sand proof bearings?
Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
I was wondering if such a thing existed ;-) I pedalled on a beach once on my full susser, had to replace a lot of pivot point bearings and others on that afterwards!Ian wrote:Can you tell me how sand proof bearings differ from ordinary sealed cartridge bearings, such as you might find fitted in Hope hubs? :?Zippy wrote:I know these float on the sand well, but do they have sand proof bearings?

Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
I enjoyed this ride last year, shame I can't do it again this year, have fun everyone!
Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
This may be a premature SOS but it's possible my new frame bag might not arrive in time and I really need the extra baggage for the extra clothes.
If required does anyone have a frame bag I could borrow please? :D

What bike is it for?
Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
Should be able to find you a pre-production Ocelot. What size top tube (underside)?
Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
It's an 18" Lurcher. I will measure the tube...
EDIT: Just had an email saying it will be going out special delivery tomorrow so hopefully that's it sorted. Thanks for the offers though gents. :)

My sleeping bag is not really a winter one so I'll need some extra layers to sleep in.s8tannorm wrote:What would they be?the extra clothes

Re: Winter Bivvy - date?
I have to say, it's almost balmy at the moment ... 9.00am yesterday morning felt like dawn in June. Given where we'll (hopefully) be spending the night, wind could be the biggest factor, although I'm hoping that the spot I have in mind is fairly sheltered. My sleeping bag is not really a winter one so I'll need some extra layers to sleep in.
