So next Saturday I'm taking my 7 year old son and his 14 year old cousin on their first "proper" bikepacking trip along the Lon Las Cefni from Llangefni to Newborough on Anglesey. It's not a long route, 10 miles in each direction, with a plan to pitch up in the forest or possibly even Llandwyn Island itself, depending on timing.
I figured, given that it's a "kid's adventure", then it's more the merrier. So, if anyone fancies joining with their sprogs in tow, give me a shout.

I don't want to put a dampner on plans but the wardens are doing their best to turn away campers at Newborough, especially on Llanddwyn island.

You 'might' be ok at the southern tip of the beach near the Straits...

Cheers for the link. I thought there might be something like this going on, but was quietly optimistic that they might look more favourably on three bikepackers leaving no trace in the forest, than camper vans and dickheads having beach parties. Now I'm not so sure. Although I'd imagine they'd have to consider the implications of turfing us out of the forest in the evening given the age of the kids, but you never know.summittoppler wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 7:55 am I don't want to put a dampner on plans but the wardens are doing their best to turn away campers at Newborough, especially on Llanddwyn island.

I've ruled out Llanddwyn as it's too high profile and I'm not looking to piss anyone off, but still thinking of taking a punt somewhere hidden away in the forest. Avoiding the main fire roads, car parks etc.

Its a large area and plenty of good spots on the higher parts that are well away from the fire roads.
Have a good one

I haven't for a couple of years. The Global Fat Bike Day ride is the first weekend of December and the last couple of years has seen us/me ride to the Eigiau cottage. Its booked again for this year (December 4th). Depending on the weather will determine on where we start/finish. Let me know if you're interested and I'll put yer name down

Ah cool. Yeah, Id certainly be interested in finding out more if that's ok? Interested in understanding how much "up" there is on the route too. Although I must admit I'm surprised at how good the Fatty is at climbing (that's both me and the bike re: Fatty).summittoppler wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 2:43 pmI haven't for a couple of years.
