Tour Divide 2022 - who is going / considering going?
After my Wanted post in the classified section relating to the Adventure Cycle Association maps it appears a few of us on here are planning on taking part in the 2022 Tour Divide.
Purpose of this post is to connect us Brits together and share plans/aspirarions/queries/logistics considerations.

Re: Tour Divide 2022 - who is going / considering going?
Hi,
I am planning to do the Tour Divide in 2022
I also know of another 4 people very interested (1 confirmed and a TD vet, the others I know will turn up excepting disasters)
We have a Google group set up to share info (in it's infancy at the moment), but this is really for people to actively contribute. Please PM me if you are serious about doing the TD next year.

I might be riding the route next year but not taking part in/at the same time as the race.
One question following on from the Maps Wanted thread. Are they necessary? Whats wrong with an anotated RWGPS track?

They are not necessary for riding the route but helped me so much in planning

Thanks Dave, I thought as much. So if someone wants to photocopy sets of the 2018 maps they might find a few takers......Dave Barter wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 10:07 pm They are not necessary for riding the route but helped me so much in planning

Re: Tour Divide 2022 - who is going / considering going?
Ever since hearing from a mate who did it I've wanted to do it......but not as a race. If i'm going to cycle the route i really want to see and experience it rather then just hammering miles. But I don't want to do it on my own so ideally looking for a group. Would give me an excuse to hand in my resignation and finally escape corporate life....

Re: Tour Divide 2022 - who is going / considering going?
I did the race 10 years ago and in 2013 toured as far South as Hartsel (easy to get to Denver airport) with Chew and two others. I did enjoy going at touring pace, compromises to be made along the way if more than one but I would not put any one ff doing it that way. It was also nice to meet up with two other groups also touring off and on.

I have the Aca maps, I borrowed the paper ones from a friend and got them scanned so have them all on pdf format.
I took them on my phone as back up.
If anyone wants them i will happily sent them I just need an email and they sent as a Google link.

Assuming the whole covid / border situation is OK myself and a mate are going to race it in 2022. Fingers crossed, put it this way, all the planning and spending is aiming for next year.

Re: Tour Divide 2022 - who is going / considering going?
Anyone considering riding northbound? At the moment its the only way you can ride the whole route. I'm looking at riding the GDMBR northbound to the border then southbound down the western Wildlands route then maybe Baja Divide.

Nice one. I'm still monitoring the situation and as such haven't booked any flights yet due to the unknowns.Hummerlicious wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 8:40 pm Assuming the whole covid / border situation is OK myself and a mate are going to race it in 2022. Flexible flight and accommodation booked to Banff the week before the Grand Depart.
It's getting a bit real now.
Fingers crossed on the covid /border front nearer the time!

I had the peanut butter mud on that section. I wonder if they will add a road section and then go off road from Cuba to Grants

The 2011 race was affected by fire in that area and I was rerouted after Platoro to Cuba before rejoining regular route.
