Hi guys, been reading the forum for a few days, decided to join. Welsh born n'bred but now living in the Italian Dolomites.
Started touring with an Inbred a few years ago, racks, Vaude bags etc, always took too much stuff!!!
This year rode from my home (Bolzano) to Germany (Augsburg) over a few passes, mainly tarmac and some gravel etc on the Via Claudia Augusta. This time I took a lot less stuff!!! Was also riding a Surly Ogre, which apart from heavy (read "cheap") wheels went very well. Also instead of the racks and bags I had bought some bikepacking bags from Poland. (although thinking of it now and looking at the pics, I still managed to take a lot of gear, but at least I used it all!!)
Next year wouyld like to come back to Wales to ride the WRT and/or maybe the Transcambrian route, then pop down to Aberystwyth where I spent many years at uni.
Some great info here, looking forward to being a part of it, and hopefully I am able to help out as well
Alan
