Some interesting ones. Didn't notice any rigid steel singlespeed clunkers though!

I can't help wondering whether many of these were packed in the dark without the aid of illumination. I foresee a trail of mugs, jackets, pumps, mats and flip-flops before mile 10.
However, this is bloody impressive.

Re: Rigs (NOT bikes) of the tour divide
there is a clearwinner in the TLS stakes
EDIT: beaten by the bear
The rest seem to have decided to take everything and paniers and racks seem a popular choice

Re: Rigs (NOT bikes) of the tour divide
I guess the rigs include more causal tourers this year as well as the ones 'racing'...so might explain more racks and panniers?

The smart money is investing in carbon frame repair companies.

Re: Rigs (NOT bikes) of the tour divide
Would that be to repair all the tailfin racks?
Re: Rigs (NOT bikes) of the tour divide
Is that a water frame bag thing on the surly pack rat ?

Trying to ride bikes.

No-one's gonna mess with Kellie judging by the contents of the sheath on their stem

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Great idea to be fair - not that there is much desert in the Uk so we dont really need them here .

That line up appears to be the b'stard child of a parody of bikepacking and the Wacky Races. However, good luck all.

TBH it just needs a tap at the bottom and it would be a perfect wine box.

We’re all individuals, except me.

Some of those setups are .... interesting. Considering they're going to miss the worst part of the ride (weather wise) there are a lot of people probably carrying way too much kit!
JP back should make things interesting. A lot of water capacity for him compared to previous years.

No Wall, no Koko Claims and no CDT. So the big hike-a-bikes are gone. Guess they’re all adding sandals and deckchairs to celebrate.
Seems like an older crowd this year as well.

He's got the Rockbros handbar and seatpack and I think a Moosejaw framepack. Probably couldn't be bothered getting it ready for the picBearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 3:13 pm I can't help wondering whether many of these were packed in the dark without the aid of illumination. It's a really odd course this year isn't it? Lack of the CDT alternate makes me sad. It's such a wonderful part of the trail.Dave Barter wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 6:06 pmNo Wall, no Koko Claims and no CDT. So the big hike-a-bikes are gone. Re: Rigs (NOT bikes) of the tour divide
If people are going to load up their front ends to such an extent as to make the bike almost unrideable, then panniers would be a better option IMHO. Also packing up everything would be a nightmare without a stand, or someone else to hold the bike for 30 minutes while it all gets strapped on, taken off, repacked etc etc.

44/20 seems a bit optimistic on the pack rat - that one gets my vote though!

Holy Moley! I think I'm pretty open minded about other people's bike setup but there is some craaaaaazy sub standard going on there!
Re: Rigs (NOT bikes) of the tour divide
That’s pretty hardcore at over 60 gear inches
