B150
Thinking of running a ITT group start for the B150 on Exmoor over the summer. Is there a preference for date so as to avoid clashes with other routes? Is there any appetite for it at all?
New route dropping down to Dulverton and then back up and up Two Miler to Dunkery instead of down it.
Cheers

This has been on my to do list for ages, so I'll express a definite interest but no idea about dates.

Is it gonna be wet?? Is the brauton150 super toughy?? I don't think I'll make it round but a little interested...
How many river crossings? July might look ok for me...

Re: B150
I don't recall any river crossings that don't have a bridge.

Re: B150
I'd be up for this. No preference on dates, unless it clashes with something in the calendar
Re: B150
Apologies for the dumb question but what’s an ITT and what’s the B150? I’m in Exeter so keen for whatever it is

ITT - [Individual | Independent] Time Trial; i.e. you against the clock, rather than a race.
B150 - I'm assuming that's the Braunton 150

So where's the time's for the Cambrian Trail that Matt recently got the FKT (fastest known time) for? Are they under Stus floorboards or something

Could well be. I guess any date is as good as another for me.I’d like to sneak under 24hrs this time - and not break any pedals.

Re: B150
2019 (or 2018 don’t quite remember) group start I got a DNF. My pedal fell apart terminally at around 70km. Managed the road ride home to Exeter but didn’t want to contemplate another 170km of off road. Went back about a month or so later and did a solo start and managed 25.5 hours give or take.
It’s plenty hilly.
As regards river crossings. They all have bridges or are insignificant. There is one however not far before simonsbath that you can miss the bridge on if you are a numpty (like me on try 1) and that’s fairly deep even at low flow.

was thinking 17/18 of July with group start at either national Trust Horner car park or Wild Thyme cafe Braunton depending on preference. will post provisional route next day or two.

Re: B150
Horner wood start? Still anti- clockwise and including Braunton? That would really shake things up.
I really hated the Horner section in the depths of the night.
I’m however out. Can’t make that weekend. Good luck, hope it goes well.

Re: B150
Right ITT group start on Saturday 17th July at Horner Wood car park, Luccombe. Shall we say 9am? Camp site a stones throw away and pretty sure the farm does pizza on the Friday night.

Provisional route above. Will tweak a bit.

Re: B150
That's quite a bit different from the original(?) route especially from Withypool onwards. In fact the eastern half bears little resemblance to that route. Have done some of the "new" bits but it's really not an area I'm familiar with so can't say if it's better or not.

Re: B150
No so different. Adding a drop down to Dulverton and back up to make it more of a loop and take in SE Exmoor. Going up 2 miler to Dunkery Beacon instead of down (which is a bit of stinker but with start from Horner is very early on) and then a key beach section along Saunton beach and raised boardwalk in the burrows. A little bit longer but climbing around the same 7500m mark. Hard route in one go, not so bad with a camp up.

I'm up for this again, where's the car park we're starting et exactly?
That GPX seems to be running clockwise from Lynton?

Re: B150
Will run anti clockwise as normal. It is a draft route so might run wrong way just due to editing on bikehike. Some sections down near Dulverton to iron out yet before finalised.
Car park here.
