Sonder Frontier size help

Hi Frontier riders,

I am looking at a frontier for my wife. She currently has an 8 year old Specialized Myka in 17in. She is 5ft 6.5in

We're not able to go find one to look at and she on the cusp of fitting both sizes according to the charts.
She will want full mudgaurds fitting - always does, and toe overlap would be a disaster as she hates this which means I am considering the M.

does anyone have any experience of the fit of these ?

My wife is 5 foot 3 and has a small frame and a friend of ours is 5 foot 6 and the small was much too small so she got a medium frame and it fits her really well, its got 29er wheels but not full mudguards and toe overlap doesn't seem to be a problem on either bike.
