I've got a Coleman 1man tent I'd sell for £50 with a free mat if you like!

Re: kit list on a budget?
Ok, heres what I would go with,
Tent Setup:
Tent, either second hand or something like
Wild Country Zephyros 1,£99, 1.5kg ish
http://www.springfield-camping.co.uk/Wi ... 1/3238/vpc
Sleepingbag (links stolen from bargain alerts), if you act quickly either a MH Phantom 45 (5deg) bag for £115 550g
http://uk.racingtheplanet.com/store/gea ... g-bag.html
or a Marmot Hydrogen -1 for £125 bag 700g (or 800g in long)
http://uk.racingtheplanet.com/store/gea ... 0f-1c.html
Both look excellent deals.
Mat, Probably go for either an Alpkit Airo Short, £35 and 400g ish, or a more standard multimat type cut it down to the size I actually wanted, providing I had somewhere to carry it.
I think though, unless you have your heart set on a tent I would consider a bivi setup.
You could go for the same sleeping bags above (I’d go for the marmot one with a tarp)
add a very nice Exped synmat UL 7 for £76 (its sooo comfy) :D
http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk/Exped ... Flat-Valve
Then use a tarp when expecting rough weather such as a Borah $50 (I use a 5.5x9 in all weathers)
http://www.borahgear.com/tarps.html
Or a Wild country Adventure for £25 (it’s a wee bit small but usable I’d say)
Bivi Bag from TerraNova (survival) £35 at 340g (or indeed another Borah gear which are great and light)
http://www.sportsdirect.com/terra-nova- ... ivi-783184
Personally, for bikepacking, I’d go for the tarp set up. But you did ask for the tent set up.
I guess if you wanted very cheap you could save on the mat and go for a standard £15 closed cell foam cut to size a bit, add the Bag £125, and just the bivi (no tarp) £35

Re: kit list on a budget?
If AlpKit have any Delta tents left I'd certainly consider one ... plenty of room for taller folk too.
May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: kit list on a budget?
Second the recommendation on the Synmat UL7 - it's really warm, so you can make some savings on the weight (and/or ££s) of the sleeping bag.
Seems to work for me anyway!

If you do want to go down the tent route, keep 'em peeled on eBay for a Saunders Jetpacker. No longer made, but a genuine 1.25kg 1-2 man tent. Usually go for around £80.
