Summer Time ITT Minimal Kit List?
What do you reckon is the least amount of kit you could get away with on a 260 mile ITT in northern England in June bearing in mind that you would need to sleep at some point and there are refueling points at 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 distance?
Re: Summer Time ITT Minimal Kit List?
I've done 2 long days in 'summer' on about 3kg not inc food/water, one short kip in that time, so any longer is down to food and not kit assuming the weather is within a predictable range. 1kg sleep kit, no tarp just a bag, bivi and mini-mat, 1kg of added layers and up to 1kg of essential tools/spares and a cook kit, ie a beer-can stove and mytimug that I could do without. So 2.5kg shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Summer Time ITT Minimal Kit List?
My list would look like this for an ITT*:
Quilt - 560g
3/4 mat - 100g
Bivvy bag - 460g
PHD Ultra vest - 180g
Hat - 25g
Waterproof - 280g
Various spares / tools - ?g
Gps on bike, card in pocket and a 750ml bottle.
*It would look quite different for a 'tour'.

Re: Summer Time ITT Minimal Kit List?
Easy one this:
bivvy bag and sleeping bag. No mat (find somewhere comfy, and it's only 1 night so a bit of cold doesn't matter). Layers depending on temperature, and waterproofs depending on the weather, but maximum of waterproof, insulated jacket (Montane Prism), base layer and dry socks.
Food (enough for a day, forget the cooker. Spares and tools (tubes, chain links, brake pads etc).
Not weighed it, but for one night it should be max 1kg sleeping gear, 500g tools and spares, 1kg food, 500g sundries (cards, cash, phone, etc) plus water.
Quite light if you are prepared to be uncomfy.

Thanks guys, been thinking along similar lines. If I go for it I have to be a lot fitter than I am now though

I'd be looking at similar.
PHD Sleeping Bag 465g
Sleeping Mat 400g
Bivi Bag 180g
If the weather looked ropey, Tarp, 250
A warm Layer, 200g
Tools etc, 500g

Re: Summer Time ITT Minimal Kit List?
Multimat 3/4 length foam thing. If I were using a bag rather than a quilt I'd not bother with the mat ... my quilt + mat is lighter than my lightest bag. What mat is 100g Stu?
