He's got the worst bit of the whole route next*, the Great Glen Way

*For a singlespeed as it's flat and you just cant pedal fats enough if you're in a hurry. When I rode it I was trying to catch a Frenchman and being chased by a Dutchman, sounds like a Pyton sketch

At sub 4 day pace it is 8 hrs from Ft William back to Tyndrum but that's on the old road route into Bridge of Orchy. I would say the more recent off road, up and over from end of Rannoch Moor adds 30 mins.

Your bike: Stooge Scrambler. Running it singlespeed with a 34x20 gear. 29x2.6” WTB Ranger up front and a 29x2.25” Onza Svelt out back.

Your key items of kit: I’ll be carrying everything in an Apidura seat pack, DIY frame bag and an Apidura handlebar bag (depending on how much clothing I decide to take). In addition I’ll have a 15l running rucksack/vest for food, easily accessible clothes and up to 2l of water. For shelter, I’ll be using an Alpkit bicycle 3.5 tarp + Titanium Goat Kestrel bivy, held up by Bearbones carbon poles. Sleeping bag is an Alpkit job that’s been on every trip I’ve done for the past 6 years. I’ll wait until I get to Tyndrum before making my final clothing selection, but safe to say it’ll be more than in 2019!

It looks like the river crossing in Fisherfield is reasonable - Steve Waters and Lars Henning have just done it, one ping well before the river and one after it so doesn't look like it caused any problems.

Trepwatch: overnight at OBH following a dicky tummy (food, knackered after a day of headwind and rain? I dunno). Hopefully she and her kit are a good deal drier today. Now past CP3, and probably on the climb over Maovally to the top of Loch Shin.

For some reason when I rode it I was thinking the climb out of Fort William was up to the Devils Staircase imagine my delight when I got to the actual climb 10 miles later and had 1650 feet of up

I think the hardest bit is that last slog from Kingshouse. You've done all the big climbs, but the route keeps on giving plus that pita hill near Bridge of Orchy..

And when you have sprinted from the bottom of the Devil's Staircase thinking the end is only 1 hour away it can be a surprise when there's actually 4 hours to go....... He really seems to be motoring - I am sure the dot is moving faster now than before.

Agree on the last bit from Kingshouse - it's a test of humour.
