Any scenic gravelly routes around Nottingham please!

Post by redefined_cycles »

It's a commute so I'll probably be taking road tires and the mtb is poorly anyway. Not sure I wish to get caught out in snow but I suppsoe its summat to tell the kids about. Once there I shoild have time to freshen up, rest up and then walk the 2 miles to the workplace...

Ta in advance

PS. Make sure you don't go past Alpkit in Hathersage or Newthorpe or you'll end up spending loads of money. Oh, hang on, maybe not for you  .

 I'm having some difficulty chucking my AK bivy bag away. Apparently it comes with an alpine bond warranty which I'd not want to miss out on... I believes you've answered the question for me Reg :-bd Peaks it is God Willing...

Scratch that real stupid idea of riding fully packed to work. Well, ok, it's not really really stupid but time is less to pack properly and there'll be a daily walk of 8 miles round trip from the hotel (yes, I pay the bloomin bill, in case Lukes reading  ). I don't know how to walk and my hips hurt after it, so should be a right challenge.

Still gonna take the road bike with gravel/mtb (33mm but look proper knobbly so I'll agree with Panaracer who's called em mtb) tires insitu. Can go a full days exploring on the Wednesday which should be my day off. Unless I get cancelled in which case I'll have 4 days off :o

Anyone got any decent stuff that needs to be explored in and around Nottingham without going through too much traffic or tram lines.

Please...

Wollaton Park, Dale Abbey, Shipley Park, Crich Memorial, Wirksworth, Black Rocks, Cromford Incline, etc are all probably en route at the Nottingham end. Depends how long you got.

Have the full wednesday off (after having a little sleep from the night shift)... decisions decisions (about taking gravel or mtb tires and whether I could still take a punt at riding it down)...

At the premier inn West... I've been at work thinking about Rge and what he'd do and come home to get the bike ready to ride it down. Wouldnt wanna be polluting the air with all them petrol fumes. Besides, my shift tomorrow is at about 1900 so hopefully plenty time to get there in good time.

Let me know if there's owt obvious around there that I should go ride. Roadie wheels on now so should be able to make a good day-off ride on the Wednesday (if I'm still alive :o  ).

Unfortunately the routes I have are mainly off-road, so if you are running road tyres, I doubt they are any use to you.
