Can We Have A Nationwide Post Lockdown Group Bivi Ride?
Given that the winter bivi had to be abandoned would people be interested in arranging a post lockdown group bivi/meet up when we are allowed.
As I'm in Scotland I fancy the Cairngorms or the Trossachs.

Was ruminating over just that Ray. A bit of a waiting game for now, once things are a bit clear we can talk about times and places.

This is a very nice idea and would it be ok to suggest somewhere central? But where is the centre of the UK then? Le Google shows up a few choices near Dunsop Bridge, Lancashire. I do like Lancashire.
But hang on a moment.

I am kind of hoping we might get a RTTS in this year - maybe a week or so late but it'd do.

Sorry, was thinking along the lines of the winter bivi so, Wales, Scotland, NE England etc etc arrange rides but if there's enough interest in a nationwide group bivi then we'll go for it.TheBrownDog wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 8:37 pm This is a very nice idea and would it be ok to suggest somewhere central? I think Haltwhistle in Northumberland is the centre of Britain if you include the islands and a point in The Forest of Bowland if you don't.

Isn't the RTTS a solo ride where everyone rides to the sunset from wherever they are... Sorry, I wasn't paying attention for the last 3 years or so (in terms of RTTS)...Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 8:44 pm I am kind of hoping we might get a RTTS in this year - maybe a week or so late but it'd do.

Also keen.
*Is this what Gove (was it him defending Johnson's infamous 7 mile trip?) meant when he said "not the other side of the country?" Technically, if you don't go past the centre, you're still on the same side right?
Haltwhistle works for me... though I could just about justify a ride there now*, so on second thoughts, somewhere a bit more exotic would make a nice change! Great pork pies in the butchers' though.

Having never slept with any of you lot to my knowledge, I'm seduced
.
Anywhere from Seascale (not the middle (unless maybe Eire is included)) to Haltwhistle, to Jedburgh, to Ingleton I reckon works pour moi.

No Shaf. Everyone joins forces and rides together.Isn't the RTTS a solo ride where everyone rides to the sunset from wherever they are...

I'm not sure that you did. Haltwhistle is 80+ miles north of Dunsop Bridge/Bowland.
Re: Can We Have A Nationwide Post Lockdown Group Bivi Ride?
Shall we say the RTTS is going to be the nationwide group meet and then arrange area group meets for those who can't make the RTTS?Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 9:07 amNo Shaf. Apologies for slight hijack, there's also Unfinished Business with the Virtual Winter Event

I'm hoping to do the Virtual Winter event in the next couple of weeks. Trails are looking better - in particular, the ice has gone.
A central weekilend thing sounds grand. The OS have Dunsop Bridge as the place but I guess someone local could come up with a suitable route for riding and socialising.

Re: Can We Have A Nationwide Post Lockdown Group Bivi Ride?
As a minimum, some form of summer bivi in various locations. Like the winter bivy format but in celebration of being to head out with others
Re: Can We Have A Nationwide Post Lockdown Group Bivi Ride?
This is what I had in mind when I posted but I think my subject title doesn't express that very well. I think you'd get more people out on the same week end than one big meet up due to travel distances. If you wanted a big meet up then may I suggest Stu's Ride To The Sun.

Mike and myself had a discussion about a RTTS last year and we both (independently) thought the Gower would provide a superb venue in terms of riding, splashing about in the sea and eating chips. However, I do appreciate that it's not exactly handy for most people.

Anyone got a link so I can get more info on RTTS and past events. I think I remember the idea (ride through the night to greet the sunset right) but an old old thread might be helpful for those that don't quite get it
